we're looking to book a studio at Aulani for the end of June 2015, 28th or 29th to be exact. I dont think it will be much trouble since thats when the points switch from low to high season, and who wants to book in high season right? but does anyone have any experience with this time-frame? we would be booking either an ocean view studio (the only view currently available for the entire week) or a combo of standard/Island view for 4 nights with a island view 1-br for 3 nights (again, thats whats currently available according to the availability tool)

I don't know if I should consider walking the reservation once I get 7 days before my actual check in date, but I figured this would be impossible since thats usually the busy period, right before the point switch, correct?

we are restricted to using less than 229 points (currently have 109 pts available plus 120 I could borrow from)

any suggestions or reassurances would be greatly appreciated, thanks

If you had the points to make the whole reservation work by "walking" without borrowing then I would suggest it; I hate to borrow and then have those points stuck in a different use year.

This summer getting our Aulani reservation for 5 nights in a 1 or 2 bedroom from June 18 - June 23 was one of the most stressful reservation experiences of my life!

Everyday, starting about 10 days before I could even make a reservation, I would log on to see what the availability of all the 1 and 2 bedroom categories were (that's 4 1 bedroom categories and 8 2 bedroom cats). We actually ended up adjusting the dates that went because before we could even book our preferred dates there wasn't a single category that was available for all 5 nights that we wanted. We had originally been looking at June 20 - 25. Not saying that a waitlist wouldn't have come thru, but we didn't want to chance it!

I was online just before 8:00 AM refreshing CONSTANTLY in order to get the reservation and 15 minutes later we wouldn't have gotten one. STRESS!

This is just my experience, and obviously it is not representative of what you may experience or what others have experienced, but I think June is a busy time and you may have difficulties getting what you want on your preferred dates. Best of luck!

For 2014 at that time of year, after the points needed increased, you could have gotten a pool or ocean view studio at 7 months out but not standard or island garden view. Note you needed to move quickly once the seven month window opened to reserve because that time period was still a high DVC demand time sinceit leads into the July 4 holiday.
