We are going to be at Aulani for Thanksgiving. Although Disney has not announced what will be on the menu for TG this year, based on last year's menu...it will be too fancy for us. Does anyone have a recommendation for someplace we can get a more traditional thanksgiving meal in the area? We will have a car but I don't want to have to go too far as that will be our first day there after a trip from the east coast.

Thanks!

Aloha 77catwoman! Sorry you've not yet had answers….I've been to Aulani several trips but not at Thanksgiving. There is a competitor forum that you might post to ask folks that are experts on that Hawaiian island. The little town of Kapolei is only 5 minutes up the road back toward Honolulu and no doubt there are restaurants there that might offer more what you're wanting. Roy's across from Aulani will likely have offerings as well but it sounds like that might be a bit more "fancy" than you are looking for as well.

If you are willing to head into Waikiki I think Dukes does Thanksgiving dinner (at least they used to) and it is kind of upscale casual. You see people dressed in nice but pretty casual clothing, directly on the beach and a fun very Hawaii atmosphere. Maybe give them a call to confirm if they do Thanksgiving and I would suggest making a reservation now, you can always cancel.

We are here now two coves down at Marriot's Ko Olina resort and Chuck's Steakhouse will most likely have something. I know the hotel is doing something for Halloween so I would assume they would also provide a Thanksgiving meal. You could just walk down the path. Contact the hotel.

Thanks all for your responses so far. I thought about the Marriott but I wasn't sure if that too would be on the fancy side and not traditional. I will look into the others as well.

Thanks again,
Shira

Shira, one really nice thing about Hawaii is how very casual it is. If you see a man in a suit, chances are he's a mainlander. Dressed up for a man is generally a nice Aloha shirt with chinos. For women, nice capris and top, a sundress, etc., with your nicest flip flops (called "slippahs" in Hawaii) or sandals works for every high end restaurant in Hawaii except for a small handful of very formal restaurants on Oahu. Marriott will not have folks all dressed up for the most part as that resort is a timeshare.

I am so sorry...by too fancy I wasn't referring to the dress code, I was referring to the food itself. My husband is a bit of a picky eater and our 4 YO DD will be with us. I was looking for food that is a bit more traditional and not all fancied up.

Thank you,
Shira
