We will be staying for 3 nights in October. I have a 2 br standard bookrd. Do you think we will be happy with that type of room or should I buy points to upgrade? And if I should upgrade IV, PV or OV? Decisions....decisions.

Btw...i have have studied almost daily the room views thread and it has made me even more confused!!!

TIA

There is a lot of information on the Aulani Villas & Views thread, so it might be confusing. But keep it simple: Look at Post #1 and find some villas that is labeled as Standard View. Don't worry if its a 2 bedroom villa or a studio; all standard villas will have somewhat similar views. For example, Villa 457 is about as bad as a Standard View can be. Villa 651 is about as good as it gets in terms of views. Would you be happy if you received those types of views?

Now look at some of the Ocean View villas. Take a look at Villa 1680. Is that the type of view you would be more happy with?

We are returning to Aulani in February for our third visit. We had a Pool View studio the first time and an Ocean View studio for our second trip. We liked the Pool View and would be happy with it again. But we really liked the Ocean View and have booked that accommodation again for our upcoming trip.

Good luck in making your decision.

When you say "should I buy more points" do you mean the one-time purchase points? You are only allowed 24 per membership number per year, unless you have more than one membership, you could swing that. Although there is spotty availability for October.

We have done ocean view, island view and standard view. We usually stay 10 days and do a split reservation to save points. Ocean view is fabulous, but we did not do that again, as we learned that you can see the ocean from many spots around the resort. It was nice to do once. If you can afford it and really want it, try for it. The room itself will be exactly the same more or less. Myself....yes, I could stay in a 2 bedroom standard view....but maybe because I already experienced an ocean view. LOL....I'm a big help!

Either way, whatever you decide, it is a wonderful resort. Enjoy.

I haven't been to Aulani yet, going in September. I booked 2 bedroom OV because it may be our one and only trip to Aulani, and I want to see the ocean! We'll be coming from a cruise to Hawaii and all 6 of us have Balconies on the ship, I hope to continue that sort of experience.
