I'll be in Disneyland during the first week of August. I just have some questions:
Is it super crowded?
Are lines super long?
Is it really hot?
Any advice?

I've neve been to Disneyland, or off the East Coast for that matter. So any help would be awesome!

I will be there too that same time frame. If i had to guess, I would say that since APs are still blocked, summer is winding down, and it will be pretty warm, it wont be terribly crazy busy. But then again, I don't really know so I am just hypothesizing.

We have been over 10 times during the month of August and the last couple of years it has been very busy, last year it was only in the 80's, years before, much warmer, the most popular rides always have hour plus waits, but with a bit of planning we always have an excellent time.

Having been during the first week of August each of the last three years, I can tell you that I remember it being hot. I live in NorCal where summer is pretty much 95-105 and sometimes higher from about mid-July to early September, so we're used to it getting hot. It is not as hot as that, probably more like 85-95 during the hottest part of the day. But with all the people and cement and spending longer stretches of time outside than on a "normal" day, it does feel hotter. So my best tip would be to get up nice and early and be at the park gates before opening. Tour as much as you can in the mornings, learn about fastpass and gather as many as you can, and then go back for a long afternoon break.

Crowds are relative. To us who go generally during peak times, it is not super crowded, but expect busy. Lines will build throughout the day, and people will be staking out spots for nighttime shows hours early. It is not as crowded as peak spring break which can get kind of crazy or peak Christmas season which can get even crazier.

August is the hottest month but manageable IMO. Crowds are there but also manageable before the AP blockout lifts.

We are going first week of Aug too! We usually go at the end of July but I think any summer time is great as long as Socal APs are blocked. We love it there in the summer. I don't mind the heat so much and it isn't humid. I've also seen worse crowds at Christmas than in the summer.

When does the SoCal AP blackout end? We are thinking of going the week of 15 August...but are open to moving that date to take advantage of the blackout (re: hoping for less crowds).

Hydroguy has a great dissertation on how AP's affect the crowds. We are going the week of the 15th just to avoid some of the masses we ran into last year.

We're coming from Louisiana during the same time period and the weather here is pretty much 95/95 from May though September. 95 deg. 95% humidity. We're looking forward to coming to California for a the break. I'm curious, however how high does the humidity normally get in Anahiem each day?

The reality is that the cooler temps means the humidity is a non-issue. It is there because you are near the ocean but it is not something that you notice.

The boys go back to school on the 11th & said they didn't want to miss that first week.....

I'm going to have to move the trip to december, we did october last year and boy, that was a zoo!!

We're going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks. Any tips on that or december (I'm thinking 6th to the 10th) are soooo appreciate it.

California is never humid!!...few exceptions but are extremely rare.......

as for heat well...........you can get 100 degree weather anytime in the year........You just will never know when it comes........

I have been in 100 degree weather Christmas Day in 2005.

Oh and in my profile pic: that was 95-99 degree weather.........in APRIL!

On the bright side you're coming from the East Coast, so 7 am will feel like 10am for those girls, so it may not be that bad!
