Is it similar to September in terms of heat and rain (we went 1st two weeks in september) want to prepare ourselves for our 1st August trip.:)

It's similar, but hotter than September. And from what I can remember, there were more regular, afternoon rain storms. We've had September trips when there have been afternoon showers, and then others when there haven't been. Our August holidays, however, had showers every day around 3pm. They tend to come with some pretty spectacular lightning storms too!

Will never forget out trip to Universal! We had walked from Wet 'n' Wild over to Universal, and it was absolutely baking, full sun, everything. By the time we had gone up the stairs, along the moving platforms and into the area between both parks, the storm clouds came in and the heavens just opened! We went inside a shop next to the cinema, and watched and the wind, rain, and lightning came down. The tables and chairs that were outside, all got blown over, the umbrellas flying up to the moving walkway! The rain was so heavy and fast, that it was getting closer to the shop doorway by the minute!

The thunder cracks were deafening, and there were some pretty fork lightning streaking out of the sky (which I hate - I don't like fork lightning, as I'm scared it's gonna get me and set fire to the building I happen to be in!) Anyway, about 10-15mins later, it stopped just as quickly as it came. The water receded, although there were lots of puddles everywhere. I hadn't discovered the joys of Crocs, so actually spent the first part of the afternoon wondering around Universal without any shoes on *** they were soaked through :(

I've had an August holiday with just 3 rainstorms in a fortnight!

It's an easy walk if you like walking and don't mind the heat. There are no shops as you follow the main road, well more like a UK motorway, from Wet 'n' Wild to Universal. There are shops opposite WnW, but not along the road to Universal. It is a nice straight walk, however, passing a giant pond that I'm always convinced an alligator will leap out from and attack me :rotfl: The road goes over the top of another road (I-4 maybe? lol) before heading into Universal land.

There's like three sets of crossings on the way, with the one closest to Universal being the worst! The walking man takes forever to appear on the crossing, and then when it does, the cars still drive over the crossing. It's like a 6-lane (3 each side) crossroad, and you have to look in about 8 different directions before you cross!

The other thing to note is that the walk is not shaded. There are no trees or buildings or anything to provide shelter from the sun or rain! This is a picture from the walkway looking across the road over to Island of Adventure back in 2006. There is only a pavement on one side of the road.
