I am planning anearly August wedding and I know that it is one of the rainiest months, but how bad is it?

In Florida, you can expect some kind of rain most days during the summer months. It is usually fast moving. I would be more worried about the heat than the rain!

Rain usually hits here in the afternoon. You can almost set your clock by it! Like the above poster said, it's also super hot and super humid, so whether you're here for a wedding or a honeymoon, be aware of it and don't let yourself get too run down!

Intense heat followed by storms of biblical proportion.

Having lived in central Florida, I had an early August wedding at 5:30 pm anyway. Two and three days prior to the wedding were the most perfect days temperature and weather-wise. The rehersal was brutally hot. The day of the wedding, the storm started, and never ended. USUALLY, the afternoon storms are intense, but short. So, if you have an early day or later evening wedding, you should be okay.

hot hot sticky hot sticky hot rainy hot sticky sticky hot...

last 3x to WDW have been in Aug...so sticky!

I'm planning an early august wedding next year, and the weather is never predictable. For that reason, we're choosing to have our wedding at the WP instead of SBP. Just make sure you drink plenty of water and stay indoors as much as you can so you don't get too hot.

we debated moving it to a "cooler" month, but we just needed to do it while the schools were still out for the summer for the sake of three of the 15 of our guests!! I expect it to be brutally hot, hence the 10am ceremony time slot, and then heading indoors ASAP! I also hope to find a dress as beautiful and lightweight as Christine (purplegirl247)!!

So August it is! At least it will be value season!

I agree..its hot. And August is worse than most other months. September starts getting nice...but August is hot..sticky..yuck. Like the above posters said, drink water, stay indoors, and carry a paper fan of some kind. Mainly just make sure someone has a battery operated mini-fan to cool your face off and reduce shine before photos :) You will probably want a bridesmaid as an asistant for photos during this time of year. Fussing around with a dress, shoes, makeup, posing, etc can make you very hot!

That's the same reason we chose our date. Too many people couldn't come during the school year and we wanted to go during the value season to save some extra money. Unfortunately all the dresses i've looked at have huge ballgown skirts. I may have to look into getting one of those fans they have inside the characters suits...:rotfl:

OMG, wouldn't that be great to have a fan inside the dress??:lmao: It might make some weird humming sounds though...and people might wonder what is in there!:rotfl: I agree, all the dresses seem very heavy and poofy though I haven't done any formal shopping yet. Too soon. I actually have a dress from when I was engaged before, which I love. But I tried it on and it was sooo heavy and hot in the house and had a long train...not going to work! GL! Let me know if you find anything!

just because you have a wedding in that heat/humidity, don't be deterred from a poufy ballgown! go with a HOOPSKIRT underneath. Keeps all that dress off your legs. I was incredibly cool and comfy in my hoopskirt. Of course, I got married in late september...in southern california...at night...lol

anyway, that's all. I got my hoopskirt off ebay...

thanks! that sounds like a great idea! I am just not sure about adding any fullness at all to any part of my body...but if it keeps me cooler...

I agree with cryssi, I too am getting married mid August and my skirt is poofy (very!) and I have a huge hoopskirt, I love it to pieces:goodvibes It really does keep you cool as all the fabric is off your legs, I also have a really long train:cloud9:

jodeeluvsdisney - Don't worry about a poofy skirt making you look bigger, I am trying really hard to lose weight for the wedding, but actually I found that poofy skirts can hide loads, to be honest I actually look alot slimmer in a poofy skirt, go figure:confused3

i am getting married august 30th!! how is the weather then pretty much the same or does it lighten up bit by then:rolleyes1 i just went for my fitting yesterday and it was a little warm in the store and as the woman was fitting me i started to sweat bad on my legs because i too have a big ball gown that happens to be a heavy satin:scared1: so anyway i almost passed out, all of a sudden i started seeing black dots then my heart strted to race and the black dots turned to black blobs, they had to sit me down bring me water the whole 9 yards, i have no idea how i will survive pics outside or even the day or dessert party that night:sad2:

oh my gosh! how horrible! is your ceremony indoors i hope? i guess i'm really going to just have to wear a sundress now...can you imagine?? too funny cuz we're getting married outdoors...yikes!

stay hydrated joanie!

luckily it is indoors at the pavilion:goodvibes i am very heat sensitive. we wanted to get married in feb but we pushed it back to august and i just didnt want to push it back any further so now i am left dealing with the heat:rotfl: i am gonna keep plenty of water around me could u imagine passing out while saying my vows:scared1:

End of August is WORSE!

I reiterate the hoopskirt thing. Also, I don't know if you are wearing stockiings, but if you do, go with thigh his, not pantyhose because that will be cooler, too. I would probably recommend that even in the august heat because then your legs won't stick together...lol

good luck and drink plenty of ice water! :)

all i can say is you will all survive. while not august i was a 2:30 mid July bride and myself nad my guests were fine. While perhaps its not the optimal months to get married in Florida in - no one complained at all. I don't know where you are from but it was hotter back home (NY) than it was in Fl the day of our wedding....so if we were home we would have had a horribly hot and rainy day. we stayed hydrated and disney makes sure you get what you need. PLus we had the WP and indoor locations. to be honest after dancing at our reception i was hotter than taking pictures outside. Try to minimize the time outside and ask your photograpger to choose shadier locations. The limos have AC and you can cool off in those pretty quickly. Light dresses are good - i had chiffon but i wasn't really hot at all...flip flops keep your feet cool...no stockings, etc. I even had my hair down.

We had a DP at Italy Isola and it was actually a very nice night - there can be breezes of the water at night.

Enjoy your weddings and be happy with your wedding month.:goodvibes

I was thinking about having my wedding in August.. but it always rains in the afternoon and i am scared b/c I am having the coach.. so I think I will keep it in November

We always travel to WDW in August or Labor Day, it's VERY HOT and sticky. It's even hot and steamy when you head out first thing in the morning.
