Hello all! Thank you so much for all the helpful information you have been posting.

My family is planning a trip in early August. We are lucky enough to be extending our trip a little more than our original plans and are now trying to figure out when we should purchase annual passes.

Monday - Driving down and staying at the Days Inn for 1 night
Tuesday - Friday Park entry using 4 day hopper, use Early Morning entrance? We will check in to DLH on Tuesday as well for the next 4.

Should we check into the hotel before going to the park? We are also planning on upgrading to Annual passes since we have another of opportunities to take the kids to the park this year. Should we do that on Tuesday or wait until Friday?

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

If you want to go to Disneyland for early wntry on Tuesday, I'd use your MM that day; if you want to go to DCA for EE, you'll need to hit the DLH super early and check in.

There are a couple of ways to consider this; if you want to use the EMH on the hopper to enter DL on Tuesday, you won't need to check into the DLR hotel first. If you check into the hotel first, you will be able to decide if you want to enter DL or DCA one hour early. However, to me, that seems like a lot to handle so early. You could always enter DL using the EMH on the hopper, enjoy the morning, and then upgrade the passes later in the day.

If you are set on checking into the DLR hotel before going to the parks on Tuesday, or if you don't care about using an early entry on Tuesday at all, you might head over to the ticket booths after you arrive on Monday, if you are there early enough to do so. You can upgrade your passes then, making it one less detail to see to on Tuesday. This would mean either not worrying about an early entry on Tuesday or checking into the second hotel early enough to take advantage of the hotel guest early entry.

Either way, I recommend upgrading to the APs by Tuesday, because you begin receiving discounts immediately. When exactly depends on how/when you want to utilize early entry and what time you arrive on Monday.

Since you are staying at the DLH, you of course get early entry every day. So I would upgrade to APs ASAP so you can use them to get food and merchandise discounts. You can check in to the DLH early on Tuesday (like 6AM) and get your room keys and then get over for EMH that day.

You also have the option of just using your PH ticket MM on Tuesday and then upgrading to AP anytime on Tuesday, which will allow you to check in the DLH later in the day - if that makes things easier for you.
