Hello all,

My fiance and I are thinking of returning to WDW in August. I've been to WDW at that time of year when I was a kid but not recently. I was hoping to get some tips and suggestions for visiting the parks at that time.

I'm from Louisiana so I know how hot Disney can get in the summertime. I know about all the tricks to staying cool and all that sort of stuff. So I have the heat thing covered.

I'm searching for information on any special events that happen in the parks at that time. Which parks do you suggest on which days? Things like that. Any other touring tips that don't pertain to the heat. Does it rain often. I know in Louisiana at the time of the year we get afternoon showers, it it the same in Orlando?

thanks,

I have gone at the August a few times and this year is no exception.

The main tip I can give you is too drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Sometimes there will be a quick shower. I have not had it that it damper the trip where I have left the park. If anything you get cooled down. :)

Needless to say: ARRIVE EARLY. Get to the parks for opening. It's cooler so the heat doesn't tire you out so fast, and everyone else is still having breakfast. You'll ride more between 9am and 11am then you will the rest of the day.

Also: don't try and do opening to closing on days when the park closes late because you just get too tired. Do 9am - 4pm or 2pm - 11pm or something. If you can sustain yourself from 9am-11pm, take a break in the middle of the day (shower and a nap or something) and don't plan an early morning for the next day.

It rains most afternoons. Carry a poncho and stay if you can - everyone else leaves when it begins to storm so if you can wait it out (usually an hour) you can get low-waiting times on popular rides once the storm has passed. Save browsing the shops for this time if you can.

Oh and HAVE FUN :cheer2:
