We generally go to WDW in February, April or November. Have never gone during the hot Summer months before. We are going 8/19-8/26 for the free dining and would like some educated info on what we must bring to help with the heat/humidity. Total of 9-4 adults-3 juniors-2 kids. As this forum always has the best info was hoping for some info from you that know.

As always thanks for the help

We went last Aug and couldn't believe how hot it was (AK is the worst!)!! That being said, we are going again this Aug because free dining is too good to pass up. We adjusted to the heat quickly and you are in and out of a/c all day at the parks with the exception of AK. I tried carrying fans, misters etc and found I couldn't stand carrying anything I didn't have to. I packed wash cloths in a ziplock bag - it felt sooo good to rinse the back of our necks and faces off with cold water. One good thing about packing...half as much stuff because no long sleeves or pants required!! Just stay hydrated and you will be fine. Have a great trip! :sunny:

We use the battery operated fans. If your kids are young enough and you will have a stroller carrying them will be easy. We just hook the to the stroller and off we go. Tank tops is the other must have. We try to buy the DH's and DS's the mesh tank tops ~ they stay drier than the cotton ones. We take lots of little breaks in the shops and usually take an afternoon break at the resort to go swimming and cool off. Mostly we just brave it and enjoy!

If you have youngsters, you will have baby wipes which are a wonderful way to cool off quickly. A wash cloth with cool water is nice too, but the wipes are less messy.

Remember to drink a lot of water, all day long. We brought a water bottle and filled it with ice each morning and drank that until it was gone. If you go to a counter service location, you can ask for ice water and it will be free, much better then the price of bottled water. Plus search for drinking fountains all over. Dining plan snacks can also get you bottled water.

It's best to try to get out of the extra hot midday if possible. Go back to your resort and take a nap or a swim. That also gets you out of the busiest time of day.

When we went in August, 2004, we found ourselves at Epcot a lot, since everything is indoors with AC. It was sweltering hot and we were very thankful we had the park hoppers, so we could head that way.

Remember to be smart about your trip and the weather and you will have a wonderful time.

Lots of water! If you feel thirsty..you are already dehydrated! Our family stops at all water fountains and take a drink. Just take it easy and don't rush around. Last Aug I saw too many people falling to the ground due to heat! The mid day break is good too. We take a nap, swim or shop (my fav!). Have fun WDW in August is doable if you are smart about it!

We will be sweatin with you too as we are going 8/18-8/25. Last time we had a stroller so bring a cooler packed with ice and water wasn't a problem. I will get a mister fan and carry at least 2 bottles of water in by bag. Still undecided if I should rent a stroller anyway use it for the cooler and if DS5 gets tired.

We will also be there at the same time. Was at WDW 2 years ago at the same time. Use fastpass as much as possible. Take afternoon breaks back at your resort. Make sure you drink lots of water. If you stop before you get to your resort purchase water outside of the resorts and bring it with you.

We've found that putting a wet washcloth on the back of your neck keeps you a lot cooler. When it starts to get warm, take it off and spin it around, it'll be cool again. It really works wonders!

We've never been in August, but I have done A LOT of reading for our upcoming Aug 21st trip. Drinking water was the biggest thing I saw (sort of a no brainer, but the one you could forget to do). I really like the washcloth idea! Going back to swim and/or sleep is also big on our list! I have to find some fans to take with us. DD and DS are 5 and under so we will rent a stroller, they can share the space. :woohoo: The biggest thing is the attitude you have. You won't be able to see everything so take the time to see the things you can. Take a break when you need to. Have Fun!!! :Pinkbounc

We had a washer and dryer because we were in a villa, which worked out great because we found we needed 2 outfits a day. We were so soaked with sweat by midday that we would go back for a swim, shower, and clothes change. So I would count on bringing some extra clothes (especially if you don't have laundry access). I also agree with the poster who said attitude counts. Just go into it knowing it will be high heat/humidity, but you will make the best of it. (Personally, I promised myself I would not say "It's so hot!"--everyone already knew that, lol!!)

think cool and kepp visiting ac'd attractions. August is when everyone loves IASW.
