August Ponchos

After you use one of the emergency ponchos (bought at Target) Do you try to fold it up and fit it back in the little package, stuff them back in your bag and get everything all wet, or just throw them away?

We'll be there in Aug and I have heard it rains every day. Should I buy a bunch of ponchos, or just one per person?

My advice is to get a shopping bag to carry them around in when they are wet. Trick I learned from my mom.

I think it all depends.

If you buy one per person, then you have to plan on using it more than once in the event that it rains more than once.

We always bring only one per person, use them, shake and wring them out after the rain, ball them up small and tight, place them in sandwich-size Ziploc bags (they fit with some effort... honestly), and put them back in our backpack. When we get back to our resort, we hang them to air out, as they are usually mostly dry by then.

If you bring more than one per person, you can toss them after the rain. But what if it rains again that day? What if it rains every day?

We like to spend the $0.50 once, recycle the poncho's, and spend the money we could have spent on poncho's on something like a Coke or a Mickey Premium Bar. It works!
