Me – 37…… just love it all
DH – Enz – 46…..has ‘gone along’ with the Florida/Disney thing for years but think he finally loves it too!
DD – Gabs – 14…..loves Pirates of the Caribbean…….money burns a hole in her pocket
DS – Gianni – 11….loves Chip n Dale…..can’t wait to spend!

The Hotel

We stayed at the Meridian Palms Orlando. What a fab location! Between markers 5 & 6 of the 192 westbound just before Sherberth Road. The hotel is set back from the main road behind a souvenir shop with a massive mermaid on the front of it. The setting isn’t pretty but the hotel was brilliant value. Didn’t take any photos….but it looks the same as it does on their web-site.

It has a small pool but that didn’t bother us as we wanted to visit the water parks.

The hotel was taken over by new management earlier this year and has had a renovation. The rooms are lovely – 2 really, really comfortable, the best sleep I’ve had in ages, beds. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom –it’s the little things that count ;) Housekeeping was very good. Breakfast was included – mini-pastries, mini-muffins, toast, bagels, waffles, either fresh melon and tinned peaches, and a variety of hot drinks. Basic but I was happy with a couple of slices of toast before heading out to the parks.

The Food

We ate out for breakfast a couple of times – the first morning we headed to an ADR that Gianni had chosen at the Cape May Café. I’d sat him down in front of allearsnet with instructions to choose one character meal and this was his choice. It was really very yummy and we had a great server.

Other than Cape May, we breakfasted once at Perkins at Crossroads and towards the end of the holiday we ate at the Cracker Barrell on the 192 – there was no way I was going home without having pancakes and their pecan nut ones did a fab job!

Dinners

We hit the buffet at Sweet Tomatoes twice – good, fresh food as usual.

Carrabbas – just before Premium Outlets – brilliant service, brilliant food, just brilliant really :)

Olive Garden – near Crossroads - not so good I’m afraid. The breadsticks tasted stale, the pasta was overcooked and the salad was over-dressed….very vinegary.

Wolfgang Puck Express in DTD – between us we had a pizza, soup, salad and a pasta dish – all very very yummy.

Red Lobster at Crossroads – I was a bit dubious about eating here as we were overly impressed last year but nevertheless DD requested that we ate here and I’m glad we did. They were very busy but the service was spot on. It seemed livelier and brighter….have they had the decorators in? The food was great and the Cheddar Bay Biscuits were to die for!

Disney Quest – pizza, pasta, and a wrap…..very good quality. Fancied something sweet so DH and I shared a piece of apple cobbler bar from the Cheesecake Factory. I know we should have had cheesecake but we really weren’t hungry enough!

Earl of Sandwich – go on guess what we had ;) how on earth do they make the sandwiches so tasty?? I really liked that the salads could be served in a wrap too – I had the Chinese chicken salad wrap and no-one else got to taste it because I practically inhaled this morsel of deliciousness.

We mainly had lunch in the parks –

Tusker House before they close it :sad1: Columbia Harbour House and whatever was going in the water parks.

We were really disappointed with our lunch in Busch Gardens – we ate counter-service and I guess we’ve been spoilt by the quality at Disney – nothing seemed fresh. DH had a salad that was very dry and quite yucky really.

Ooo ooo ooo – food pics next! DS had to have a funnel cake in Epcot…..

On our last day we spent a couple of hours at DTD before heading to the airport. Why? Goofy’s Candy Co! We headed here to buy some treats to take home :dance3: How on earth they made the journey I don’t know….oh yes I do….4 boxes wrapped tightly in a carrier and DH with orders to keep the bag upright and make sure it’s wedged in the overhead locker so it doesn’t topple over! You’d think we were carrying crystal lol

The children and I created our own treats. I had pretzels rods dipped in milk chocolate and peanut butter cups with a drizzle of milk chocolate.

Gabs had a Mickey krispy treat dipped in milk chocolate and M & M’s with white chocolate and caramel drizzle.

Gianni had a Mickey krispy treat dipped in white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles with milk chocolate and caramel drizzle.

And finally……

DH and I both chose a cookie each. DH had the carrot cake cookie on the left and I had the peanut butter and chocolate cookie on the right.
