How brutal will the heat be at the end of August? We have mostly gone to DL in June so we are August newbies.

I've been during the end of August a few times now (my birthday is around the same time). I think it depends on what climate you are typically used to. I don't mind a dry heat, but one August (I believe 2018) had high heats WITH high humidity. That I couldn't stand, but the mornings and nights weren't too bad. However, that seemed pretty atypical from my other end of August visits.

If you're sensitive to heat, I'd pick up a UV umbrella for those times when you just can't avoid full sun. Otherwise, just make sure you hydrate well and try to time any breaks during the mid/late afternoon.

The average high is 84-85. This week, the high has been in the low 90s. So fairly hot. This year seems to just be a hot one country wide. Take some cooling towels, hydrate whenever possible, and take breaks if it gets too hot.

Mid-80s I can do. Low 90s and I start to get ornery.

It’s really hot right now, forecast has been the 90s for a week and looks to go another week or more. Hopefully it cools off a little by the end of the month but 80s would be the hope.

Unfortunately at least these last few years it's been hard to predict the weather, it's really hot right now.. I'd just prepare for it to be super hot so you aren't caught off guard by the heat.

It's best to get there at rope drop and do as much as possible. We take a break, even in June, around 3-5pm to escape the heat. We go back to the pool or hang out in the hotel room. Then we return around 5-6pm when it's starting to get more pleasant. I love those cool mornings and nights at DLR. It sure beats showing up at rope drop in Florida and sweating at 8am.

That's what we do. I book our lunch at 1 and then we head back to the hotel after. Swim/nap then head back by 7 for a couple rides then the parade. Then we stay until closing. We love riding during the last couple of hours of the night. Only difference this year is that we don't have the shuttle to take us back to the hotel at midnight. I've never walked Harbor at that hour.
