August from Glasgow misprice

We have been going indirect for years now, we fly from Norwich to Orlando via Amsterdam and an American hub (Atlanta/Detroit/Chicago). This year was expensive at £1900. That's for two adults two children. last year we paid £1500.

One year we "raced" another family who went direct and we spent about the same time travelling, with the time to London the three hour check in and immigration at MCO.

Always been looked after well by the airlines (KLM/Delta) and the transfers are easy. The wife really likes waving off the cases at MCO and picking them up at Norwich. I would highly recommend the indirect route, especially the way prices are going.

Heyo, thank you again for the info, just been on BA web looking at indirect, showed great prices and flights approx £450 - £500 so I ticked the boxes, got to the next page and the total came to £2,800.00?????? I'm really losing the plot now  Debs x

BA site gives you a price for outbound then a price for inbound when you click to book it adds them both together.

Heyo, just to let you all know I have booked VIRGIN for next AUGUST for 2 adults, 1 teen for wait for it............£2,100.00 plus car hire :dance3::yay:

Debs xxxxxxxx

in all the excitement i forgot to use Quidco tho, oops!

Is that the Glasgow deal?

No, from Manchester! I changed my dates from 4th Aug - 23rd Aug as the prices are supposed to be cheaper and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the price, so bit the bullet and booked! I just edited my last message about forgetting to use quidco, silly me! :rotfl2: sure I can manage without the saving tho! Debs x

OMG even better!!! I have just had an e-mail from quidco saying I will get £96.00 back, I didn't even go through their website, I am getting mega giddy now, I need a drink to calm down :rotfl2: Debs xxxxxxxxxxx

Is that a virgin flydrive you have booked ? Just looked and says there are no flights available from Manchester on that day boo !

Also if you change at Amsterdam does that not make it a very long journey as you are flying the 'wrong way or am I being thick ?!

Heyo, yes I did book the flydrive, the price is £2,100 + the car hire at approx £270.00 but it is still well worth it, before I was quoted £3,100.00!! Not sure about amsterdam, this is a direct flight manchester to orlando! :thumbsup2 Debs x

Wow - this is really good - but I am getting nothing like that price now - did you book on the Virgin website?

Dates departing after 21st August drop, search before that and they are over £200pp more.
Will be same when flight only are released, prices will be lower after 21st August.

Hi Pigby, yes it was the Virgin Holidays website and the flydrive section, it was about 6.15pm when I booked so I would have thought it would still be there. I booked for the 23rd Aug 2011 for 14 nights, the flight going out is a little later at 13.45 (I usually fly at the 10.30am flight) but I'm not too bothered about that! Debs x

BTW I have just had another look on the website and the price for that date is still available!

Nice one Debs. Decent price, considering what it's costing for us to go a couple of week earlier. Plus the parks should be quieter later on in August. Carl xx

Ah misread your post - thopught you were going from 4th to 23rd August. Unfortunately, 23rd is 3 days too late for us - DD will miss some college (6th form) so looks like we might be stuck with higher prices - I had originally thought, when I booked my hols off work that prices would have started going down by the 20th.

Still looking for Easter if anyone spots anything.

We need:

flight only (no car)
from London, Birmingham or Bristol (:rotfl:)
happy to go indirect
not fussed about baggage allowance etc.
April 9 - April 23
will skimp on the dates if it saves us money (anything from 14 to 8 nights)

...under £400? :confused3

I'm kidding myself, I know :lmao:

Hi Pigby, that is the only downside, that my daughter will have to miss the first few days of school which I don't like and very rarely do, but at £1,000 cheaper I had to give in, and usually they don't do very much in the first week back, I will just make sure she catches up if she has to! Hi Carl, yep, pretty chuffed with the price, although still a lot of money I really don't think I will get it any cheaper, even the packages for the same hotel were a lot more expensive. I was worried about the crowd level for beg of august, so that's an extra bonus too! At least I can chill out now and just enjoy the planning (I've got 2 Disneyland Paris trips to get out of the way first lol), its such hard work :rotfl2: Debs x
