august flights

hello all

I am looking to book flights for five for aug 08 for 3 weeks,lots of airlines e.g. thomson ,monarch , xl seem to offer no flights(even if I look for 2 weeks) or seem to be v expensive compared to flights we used in aug 06 e.g. £650 for virgin

06 flights were booked later (april of same year) , so have flights gone up a lot since then or am I looking too soon ? Will there be more availability/better value in the new year ?

any advice appreciated

Welcome.
August is a nightmare month for flights. Virgin are quoting around £720ish. If you have done a Virgin flight in 06 did you register with flying club? If you did then you can use 2,000 miles pp and get a seat for £638 (£105 more than for this August). Who knows if you are best waiting? If the airlines struggle to fill the planes they will offer good fares, they usually dont need to for August though.
I booked last night see link below, after I booked I chose my seats for outbound Virgin 1st August, I could choose just about anywhere, only about 10 seats taken, so I suspect they are not selling well yet or maybe people dont pick seats so far out
