hi guys, just curious for those that are flying this month what sort of price did you pay for your flights if you booked as soon as they were released? doesn't have to be direct, more curious about indirect actually, is £700 impossible to achieve anymore or did you find it? or is £800 -£900 more accurate? in my house I need to multiply by 5 lol, many thanks for any responses

I'm interested too for the same reason! 5 x £800 is a lot of money, especially when we paid Virgin less then £3000 for 5 October flights last year :(

When the flights for August this year came out last September flying direct with Virgin from Manchester MCO they were about £1100 each! I waited till January and got flights for £840 I had to book 13 nights though as 14 was a lot more. There were indirect flights for around £650 each when I looked.

We booked two months ago on American Airlines indirect to Tampa and paid £500 per person, the times are pretty good as well. I don't think you necessarily need to book on release for indirect. I think that applies more to the direct options. Our dates are 19th August to 2nd September.

The drive from Tampa appears to have no tolls and only takes 20 minutes more than MCO by the look of it.

i booked in dec 2012 we fly 22nd aug 2013 and i paid £2274 for 2 adults and 3 children

we are flying indirect with delta

Im waiting for the August flight price too.
I knew we were going to be looking at August, so for the past couple of years ive kept an eye on the August flight prices.

Mid Jan was the best price I found.

Flythomascook.com have flights for under £700 at the moment.:thumbsup2

Wow, what an amazing price - was it a glitch?

We're flying Direct from MAN to MCO with flythomascook, 7th Aug to 30th Aug 2014. We have booked and paid £875 pp, we booked Friday 9th Aug, the downside was we had to pay in full

:thumbsup2

Just keep checking claire, do not book straight away. i usually keep checking everytime i am online, till i get a price i am happy with , £800 would def not be a price i would be booking. If you check often enough you will get a decent price, even indirect, i would be looking to pay no more than £600 preferrably less or i would not be going.
and like pp, try different airports to fly into, Tampa is about 50min drive to Orlando, and could save a few ££, have read of others flying into Atlanta and driving down

We are flying direct with virgin for the first time in years right at the end of August - we land and kids have to go to school the next day.....booked a miles plus money , just short of £3000 that is for 4 adults 1 child. Booked 60 days from departure.

Yes for this reason we always end up doing an 'irregular' number of days. I too found that the 7,14 and 21 day return routes are often, not always, more

Anyone care to give an idea of late June flight prices? I know my fares and deals for ourselves fairly well - enough that I know when I'm happy/not happy to book. But this is a new time of year for us and I'm getting around £650 for indirect and thought this is still a bit much. Or is it normal? Schools are still in session here so I thought it may be a better time to go than to wait for the peak of the summer holidays. Any pointers or past experience would be appreciated :)

great replies everyone! just the sort of stuff I was looking for, thanks. I'd be an idiot to book with the quote I got to be honest, 3 adults, 2 kids £4900 for a fly drive. not really what I want to pay although being August I know I have to be reasonable. arrggh I hate the waiting game lol

Up to 30th June this year prices going from Dublin through london or Man where as low as £375, i got some who where planning going around 7th july for 2 weeks and had prices of £575 for that time to take an extra week and go end of June their price was £400 saved them quite a bit and this covered them for the extra week.

Aer Lingus can have good fares at times, flying from the UK to Dublin & then direct to Orlando.
At the minute they are advertising fares on their website from £200 one way from the UK to Orlando, albeit dates are from this September until March 2014.
Might maybe be worth keeping an eye on for next summer?

Thanks. Yeah I thought it was a bit high still at 650+ pp

Aer Lingus is great but they dont' fly back on a Sunday and I can't change dates as my leave at work is now going to be locked in as the others have planned around my dates.

I was on the United site earlier and some came up for 620 which was the best I've seen so far offering a glimmer of hope. Then I saw alternate airports flying from Belfast were £401. I went to chase DD out of the shower, came back and they were gone! Over £600 again :rolleyes2

no idea i spent most of the december on kayak trying various dates , we had planned to go on the 3rd sept but there was no difference in price moving in to the end of august

i know quite a few people on the boards booked at similar times

The cheaper August flights for next year will be from around the 17th onwards according to Complete Orlando, they seem to think circa £800 per person will be a guideline for direct flights with BA or Virgin

Think you'll find the drive a bit longer - more like 1½ hours Tampa to MCO - but Tampa is a far superior airport - much nicer experience
