August flight prices

Sorry another flight thread but we are going august 2016, so we are keeping an eye on this years prices and found a gem of a price 2ad 3 kids 19 august - 2sept is £2625. Is this the norm for late august? Has anyone else booked around these dates before? Hopefully I can find a deal like this when I come to book next year

That's a steal late August can be very expensive for flights. We paid 6000 in 2013 for 5 on VA premium economy.

Some really good prices come up with American Airlines this year and I'm hoping there are some good ones cropping up next August too :0)

We booked 24th Aug - 1st Sep for 2015 £572 per adult. So yes seems like a pretty good price!

Where did you find that price and was it direct? I ask because there are many people who find these sort of prices on Kayak and other flight comparison sites at 'too good to be true' prices. They book and then find themselves contacted to say a refund will be issued as the price wasn't correct .

Have to say, I think that price for 5 is unusual. But sometimes, if you can come back just as the schools go back (like a day or so after) you can hit lucky on prices as they do tend to get cheaper once the schools return.

I am fairly sure some of the schools go back later next year though - so do beware of that....

It was direct on the Virgin site but I've just looked and it's gone already! Delta have a price similar but via Boston on the return. I'll be happy if I can find a price under 3k for 2016 for all of us.

The only thing I would say is that my DDs school goes back at the end of August, straight after Bank Holiday Monday, so flying back the beginning of September is when schools are back in 2015 for us. Whereas it is normally the 2nd or 3rd of September, not sure if this would affect flight prices much

You see, it just shows how schools differ as it appears our schools will have an extra week off in summer 2016 for some reason . We haven't in 2015, but a lot of other schools have. Tbh I think most airlines now are starting to wait until 6-8 September onwards before prices drop as they know holidays can be staggered (especially as academies can bring in their own dates).

I think Virgin had a sale on recently - that is probably why you found that price - presuming you were basing it on 2015 prices! Just shows it can be done I guess!

Good luck - glad mine are booked for 2015, that way I don't need to keep checking!

we paid 2256 for 5 and that was flying out on the 22nd aug last year , seen similar quotes to what you found for next year and also when i was looking at the start of this year but they were indirect
