Doesn't matter how great of shape you're in, walking 10-12 miles will cause chafing for most people if there isn't some type of barrier!Wifey is in very good shape at 49. I will buy a pair as backup just in case.
I had not even thought about using my anti-chafing cream while at DLR! So glad you brought this up!Yeah, it’s not super well known and they generally only dress code you if it’s a safety issue.
Yep! Bike shorts usually work well. Anything to keep thighs from rubbing together all day. (And also maybe look into anti-chafing stick or cream too. Just in case.)
very similar to what I wear. I would also advise some sort of shoulder wrap, a cardigan or pashmina scarf or bolero jacket. If she has a bag, a cross body or back pack or shoulder bag, the bag straps on bare skin gets irritating in the heat after a few hours.Yeah I had already realized sneakers for everyone…
Added shorts to the list….

Good call on the bag. She has a small Tinkerbell purse that doubles as a waist bag.very similar to what I wear. Also , something you might not even realize, with a dress like that you also need to think about underware, specifically bras. A halterneck dress really needs a bra with halterneck straps, or the bra needs to be racer back or balcony style. Some bras have adjustable straps, which you can change from traditional style to racer back or halterneck.

As for the “support” pretty sure shes set on that as she has a few dresses like this alreay.
Her birthday is this Wed so we still have 60 days to pick up anything else.
How will this dress hold up on the rides?
Another good reason for a pair of bike shorts underneathJust be aware of certain rides are a little awkward in a dress or a skirt, depending on whether there is a safety bar between your legs.
This was actually my major concern. We are used to brutal heat living in the southeast, not to mention oppressive humidity.Just give her the dress and she will figure out what else she needs "underneath."
To be totally honest, though, I would not be comfortable in a dress like this walking around the parks in August. It's cute, definitely, but not practical. It's a massive sunburn risk, not supportive enough "up top" for rides that can be jarring, and the heat bouncing up off the pavement right onto legs and being trapped by the skirt...big nope for me. I only wear lightweight moisture wicking clothing (like Under Armour heat gear or quick dry shorts/capris) in the parks in late summer. August can be brutal. If that dress is not 100% cotton, forget about it. She will be so hot.
We are doing sit down meals for dinner each day, and may goto the hotel to change for the evening tour. That dress is darling! I've worn dresses like that for years to Dapper Days. I've not gone in August, but I've gone when it was very very hot--so much so that they changed the Dapper Day schedules to presumably cooler times (was Sept, moved to November). I always found dresses like that to be a good choice in hot weather.
I agree with DLgal that if you give her the dress, she'll be able to figure out what to wear underneath.
The most important thing is to bring comfortable shoes. Keds, waterproof sandals or flats are good options. I learned the hard way to resist wearing shoes that were fashionably cute but not Disney friendly.
I often wear a hat for the sun and I always bring some sort of cover-up (sweater, light jacket) on hot days, not only to guard against the sun, but because the abrupt shift in temperature when you go indoors in stores or on rides can feel brutally cold. I have admit here that I'm a cold wienie and ALWAYS carry a very light jacket in my bag.

I keep looking at Anaheim historical weather data and it mostly shows 65’s in the AM , averaging mid-high 80’s…with an occasional 90 peak…for the mid afternoon, then a gradual return to the 70’s in the evening.
Those temps will be like heaven compared to what our summers are like.
BUT , that womt make up for non breathing dress or a bad day with the temps.
We are staying right across the street on Harbor, so its like a 5 minute walk, I guess we can change if needed.
