August discounts....historically speaking...

Hi all,
Universal Newbie here... I need tons of help....

I'm wondering, based on the last 3-4 years or so, do the on-site hotels usually have a special going on in late August? Like, right now there is the 'buy 3 get 5 nt, etc.' deal. I know WDW tends to do pretty good deals (read, free dining) this time of year but wonder about Universal......we're going in 2011 (And, I know nothing is guaranteed....just wondered about the trend the last few years..)

Also, saw this quesiton asked on another thread but no answer was posted yet: when do they usually add 2011 dates to the website?

You cannot book on-line yet, if you ring you may get a reservation. Once you have a reservation, you can then retrospectively apply any discounts that are made available.

We have been for the last two summers and there were discounts about, just be patient.

We have 14 nights booked for October 2011, the price for a queen room is very high, but am 100% certain that I'll cut the figure by a huge margin come October.

The only variable that is hard to measure is Harry Potter world, attendances and income is up, so who knows how they will price next year..

Thanks Kevin - I kind of figured they'd have good August deals - just wanted someone to make me feel better for skipping free dining at WDW next year .

I am eager to look at things on-line - I'm still so unsure about which of the 3 hotels we'll stay at - definately staying on-site. I'm one of THOSE that can window shop a looooong time before taking the plunge. Though, it looks like you'd be happy to hear, we are leaning towards HRH .... both of my boys are music types.
