Has anyone been to WDW in August? If anyone can give me some insight as to how bad the crowds are I would appreciate it.
I've realize that it is hot and humid and there can be periodic rain showers but I can't go any other time. I think I we can deal with the heat and the rain but that and long long lines and huge crowds I'm not so sure about. I'm hoping someone can give me some good news about there experiences because I haven't heard very much that is good. Thanks!

When exactly in August are you planning to go? There is a very big difference in the crowds from early August to late August (when most schools are back in session).

We usually go around the 16th of the month just when value season starts. The crowds are very bearable. Lines are not bad. Of course, it is a rainy time of year. When we were there last year in August it rained everyday and some days it did rain for several hours (not periodic) but if you start out early then you can head back to your resort for lunch and a rest when the rains hit or you can just give it a go with your ponchos. There was one day we did get to do the swim thing in the afternoon because it didn't rain that day.

I like this time of year, not real busy anywhere.

Thanks for the information. Actually, we could go anytime after August 8th up until August 24th so we'll probably go around the 16th. I'm glad to hear the crowds aren't too bad.

Like I said we can handle the rain even if it's all day (hopefully not everyday though) We've been going in March and have had experiences where one day at Epcot was just perfect, we got there early and felt like we had the place to ourselves, and then the next day was pure torture at MK with huge crowds and long lines, it was way to stressful and we didn't have much fun. It rained at Epcot while we were there and that was fine with us we just got out the ponchos.

I had heard that a lot of people try to get that one last fun thing in before school starts and so that can cause the crowds in August. I'm assuming they meant people who live in Florida, maybe? Does anyone know when they usually go back to school? anyone else have a good experiece in late August?

We are going the last two weeks in August - went at that time two years ago and it was great - and we had less rain than when we went in June.... We walked on and off and back on Splash mountain in the mornings.

August is a good time to go and
I agree the later in August is the
better for less crowds.
However, the later in August
park hours become shoter, which
is a real bummer.

I went from mid-August to around the mid-twenties, and the crowds were just like normal, but nothing out of the ordinary. Expect hour waits for popular rides, hour and a half for more popular rides. IF you utilize Fastpass, you will be fine. Have fun!

We tend to go to Disney the last week in Aug. We have never had a problem with the crowds at all. It seems like some of the kids are back in school so there is less people.

I enjoy going at this time because of the discounts at the resorts and because of the crowds.

Yes, it is hot and humid, but we just take our time and rest. We also use the pool alot.
