August crowds

I was looking ahead at my kids school schedule for 2007-2008 school year. I see that next years rates are out, and value season starts on August 5th. My kids don't go back to school until August 16th. Was possibly thinking of a trip the week of the 6th. How are crowds this time of year? Also, how about the heat? Anyone else gone this time of year? We just got back from a trip June 9-15, and heat was bearable. Is August much worse? Any feedback on this subject would be welcomed!

August weather is extremely hot, we tend to do the parks in short bursts and arrive early in the morning , leave at lunch-time and if we want to return do so early in the evening.

The crowds are much lighter from the middle of the month onwards as many of the US schools return, however the early part of the month is still quite busy and I am afraid temperatures in the low 90s.

aug. is very hot lines for rides can be long. We usually go this time because of school one year it was 103 that was too hot. June has more rains but the heat is not as bad.

the crowds aren't bad. We've gone in August a couple of times - more like mid-August though. A lot of kids are back in school so that obviously affects the crowd levels. Yes, it's hot but that is what pools are for. We like this time of year but we're bias. Our anniversary is August 12 and my DH's birthday is August 15.

We have ressies for the Dolphin 8/11 - 8/19. The sad news is we may not be able to go due to some unforeseen financial issues. However, there is still hope. We talked about shortening the trip. That will help. We got such a good rate - $129. So, God willing I'll be there in August enjoying the heat!

This will be our third August trip. We started going this year because our schools do not go back until September and I am a school teacher and we have a 5 year old dd starting k. After the first year we decided that although yes it is hot, it is bearable and the lines are relatively short, we didn't wait more than 20 minutes for any ride.

Due to the intense heat, we drank plenty of water and took many breaks. We would sit for an hour while dd enjoyed the water sprays, a nice peaceful break for all of us. Combine this with shows that are air-conditioned and it was a recipe for success for our family.

Can you share where you found the $129 rate at the Dolphin? I have only found $149 (not bad either but would love to save even more!) Thanks
