For those of you who have gone the first week free dining has been offered in the past, how are the crowds? We normally go the first week of August but might need to postpone a couple weeks and have seen the info on the new pins and free dining.

There are not that many people compare to june. We went last year for the first week and at 5 in the afternoon there were to still fastpass to many attractions like test track. the only problem is that some of the parks close early like 7 and you have to find other things to do like go to the pool. If I were you I would go, you will have alot of fun.:thumbsup2

Which parks closed at 7 in the middle of August?

Only the Animal Kingdom Park closes earlier than the other 3 parks....because of the animals and there is no evening show or parade there. I am not sure exactly, but I think I remember the park closing around 6Pm when we were there last August.... My family of 5 including a 10 month old...had a fantastic time last August. It's HOT, but the crowds were not that bad....I've been in June a few years ago, and it was worse then....

Thanks, I knew Animal Kingdom always closes early but the way the other person sound, thought it was more then that. We normally go the first week of August so we manage the hit and crowds pretty good, just wasn't sure with free dining if it was better or worse with florida kids in school

We went the first week of free dining last summer. The crowds were definitely there. I don't know how it compares to the rest of the summer, since I've never gone then, but we found that you did need to get to parks early and plan your FP's. Some headliner attractions like Soarin and TT had 90 min. wait times most of the day. HS did close early, like 7:00, many nights that we were there. We found that strange. They were open later on F! nights or EMH (when they were open till 10). Even though the parks were busy, we had an awesome time! It was hot though!!

Just to let you know, free dining is available to UK visitors throughout the whole of August (we're at Saratoga Springs for our first onsite trip from the 6th!) which MAY figure into crowds - especially at restaurants :)

:goodvibes

Although most of the southern schools are back in session when we go (end of August) the parks are still crowded...we had long waits but used fast pass best we could. Not to mention we never did get into all of our favorite restaurants...

We plan on only doing Magic Kingdom and Epcot 1 day eacd and only want the counter service so we don't have to plan meals. I think we will be fine especially since it will save us close to $600
