August crowds-schools starting ?

Who has been in August- mine really want to go this summer- only in August will work with camps and all stars in June- probably will go weekend b/f school starts around 8/11- do you think it'll be crowded- when do most of your schools start? I know it'll be hot !!! WE'll stay at HRH where we can escape to the warm pool!!

Went first 2 weeks of August in 2005. To me it was somewhat crowded, but not a problem. If you are on-site, you should have no problem. We stay off and refuse to pay for the extra express stuff. If we got there at opening we pretty much walked on stuff for about 2 hours. Around 11 or 12 everyone in the hotels comes and then they get front of line, so everything slows down.

Hi - we always do Disney in AUgust, so while I can't speak specifically to the US/IOA crowds (this year will be our first trip there!) I would imagine the crowds would be comparable at the two venues.

We find August to be hot but reasonable. We have been in nearly every month possible, and mid-August works pretty well since (a) it's late enough to have reduced crowds due to early southern school sessions, and (b) still in the summer to allow later park hours. We usually go right around August 11 (because that is my/DH's anniversary!) We find it's a bit crowded that 2nd week of August, but certainly not as crowded as June/July, and it only gets better as we move into that 3rd week of August.

While it IS hot, it sure allows us to enjoy the pool time more!

Only other concern for that time of year seems to now be hurricanes. We were in WDW for Hurricane Charley ... hoping for no hurricanes this August!
