August Airfare Help

We're heading to WDW mid-August and for an unknown reason, I have totally missed the eight ball as far as getting flights from PHL for our trip. I usually fly US Air or Airtran and never have problems getting non-stop flights at the times I want under $200. I have been watching the flights for about a month and non-stops for decent times are over $200. Does anyone know whether the airlines drop their prices when Southwest opens up their schedule? Does anyone know when Southwest is anticipated to open up their schedule for the rest of August? I prefer to have assigned seating but now that kids are older, I am not as concerned about us all sitting together and would not mind flying Southwest again. Any thoughts? I know gas prices may be a factor.

I'm also looking at Airtran for August & haven't seen any discounts yet.

I've flown with them several times in the last year & the discounts seem to come along closer to departure than futher out.

I've been able to get one-way (direct flights) for anywhere from $59-$79 & they are ususally no more than $89 on sale.

I plan to wait it out. Good luck.

I just booked airtran out of philly yesterday for our sept trip at about 177.00 pp roundtrip- not sure what aug rates are though.

Have you tried looking at Allegiant Airlines out of Allentown, they fly into Sanford and we paid $69 one way.

About a week ago I booked US Air from Syracuse to Orlando for 179. USD including taxes. This flight has a connection in Philly so I'm not sure what the segment breakdown was but I had been watching prices for a few months and thought this might be as good as it gets so booked. The schedule is decent as well arriving in Orlando at 11:52 am and departing at 3:10 pm. Nothing is worse than watching the airfares rise and fall and having the flight booked is a huge weight off of one's shoulders! Good luck!

Airfares are going up and you aren't going to see many bargains for August, one of the biggest travel months of the year. If you see a good fare for that time, grab it.
