I know i asked this question before but i was hoping to get a few more responces.

I am going to disney 8/27 - 9/2 and i wanted to know if it was a good or bad time to go and why.

My mom and sister went last year in August, something around the 10th - 20th, and said the crowds were pretty light (and also light at Universal). The only drawback they found was that it was very hot. The parks closed earlier than in July, but since the crowds were pretty low they were able to go one everything they wanted, and most things twice. I am going with the two of them this year in August (first trip since 1991!), probably around the same time. I would imagine it picks up a little over the three day Labor Day weekend, but cannot say for sure.
[Sis is a teacher and can only go when school is on breaks, and she teaches early summer school, so August is our only real option]

We have gone from 8/13 (or so) for a week twice now. The crowds at the parks start thinning out that weekend. You should find low crowds when you go. The attendance goes back up for Labor Day weekend. The parks do close earlier, but you can get more done in a day due to the lighter crowds.
The weather is hot/humid!! The humidity is what got to us. Plan to start your day early, take a midday break at the resort/pool. Then, head back to the park later that afternoon. This is a great time of year to take advantage of EMH in the evening.
Wear a hat, drink lots of water, take some sit-down breaks often.

Crowd-wise, you should be fine. It's still pretty hot and humid though, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms.

We have been in August once before, and are returning this year Aug. 13-20. Crowds were not bad, but it is hot, hot, hot. I'm not sure where you are from and how your heat/humidity tolerance is but I found that after a couple of days we adjusted and were fine. But then again, we live in NC and are very use to it!

Thanks for the advice everyone, i will be sure to bring my fan misters from walmart. Got them, yesterday for 5 dollars, My husband thinks i am nuts because i am shopping so early but i am too excited. I also have to buy some more stuff to keep us cool but as long as the lines are short i think it wont be too bad.
i actually saw a fan at walmart that hangs around your neck and blows upward for $3.88 maybe i will pick one up too.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

You can never shop to early, once you get into the hotter months those things might be harder to find. I have a friend who goes to disney in the summer and they use some cooling thing around there neck and she says they work great. I'll have to find out what they are called. Linda

I agree with the other posts! Crowds were a big concern for us. They were half compared to when we went in July, As for the weather, plan your day accordingly but keep those hurricanes in mind! When we went in August, we literally went in between hurricanes. But would we go then again? No question YES! :thumbsup2

We'll be there Aug 26 - Sept 3. This the second time visiting Disney at this time of the year and we love it.
We found the heat bearable - drank lots of water, used mister fans, took breaks in air conditioned attractions and restaurants, took our time and swam at the resort pool until midnight.
The crowds were very manageable but never having been at peak season, I can't compare. We only donned out rain ponchos once and we really didn't need to. We always seemed to be in a show or ride when the brief thunderstorms occurred daily.

Sure it's hot, but if you're staying on property:

go to the parks in the AM,
back to resort,
hang out at the pool bar until it clouds up,
then go back to the parks (with poncho) as everyone one is running for the exit during the storm,
have supper,
watch the fireworks (or a show),
and then back to the resort for a swim in the quiet pool.

REPEAT, no less than 7 times.

Hi there,

We have gone to WDW twice in August, this will be our third year, Aug 27 - Sept 8 (we go this time each year) and we love it. It is still hot, and the last two times we have been it has rained each day for a little bit. But the crowds are good, very little wait time. In fact we have not had to use a fast pass once in the two years that we have been going.

I am sure that you will be fine...

Enjoy your trip!!

Really, what was your general strategy, go to parks early, is that why you didn't need a FP. I cannot imagine walking on to any of the Mountains or Soarin/TestTrack! Granted, I was only there 1 time over memorial day.

Thanks for sharing. You have me excited that it might not be too bad that time of year.

We will see you down there :cool1: , We are also going that week. DD 5th birth-day :cheer2:, I have asked this same question and pretty much had the same responses. VERY HOT :sunny: , but the crowds are lower :woohoo: I hope we all have a great trip.

We visit every summer, generally in August. The mid to latter part of the month is much less crowded. Here is what I say to people when they say,
You're going to DW in the summer, isn't it HOT??"

Yes, it is hot, yes, it is humid, but, it is here too! LOL! :cool1: I would rather be at WDW! :thumbsup2

I'll be on my honeymoon August 23-30!!! I'm so glad to hear that lines aren't long and crowds aren't too bad!!! Of course it'll be hot as all get out and rainy and soggy, but I don't mind the rain!! I'll dry! :) Plus I carry a little shammie towel with me and when I need to dry off, it's a snap AND it doesn't get my bag wet when I'm done with it!! Yee-HAW!!! :cheer2:

We are also going to be there during that time (08-23 to 09-02).
I know it is going to be hot, but I am so excited, I don't care!! :cool1:
