August 9, 2011 (8/9/2011) Taking the Wonder to see the AMERICAN CHILD

I'll be more than happy to provide more information! I know my parent's and sister won't care! My parent's are Janet and Walter and my twin's name is Beth. My name is Amy and my DH's name is Dave. :)

If people are more comfortable not posting "real" names online, you can PM your info to Joe and then it will appear only on the spreadsheet that he distributes to FE participants ;)

Joe -

I PM'd you to add my family to the FE Exchange list. Looking forward to giving/getting gifties on the cruise! :wizard:

i sent you ( Joe) a pm with "real" names..

Joe,
I sent you a PM with our names. Thanks!

Now I need to book a hotel for Vancouver. Anyone found any good deals?

Joe,

Now I need to book a hotel for Vancouver. Anyone found any good deals?

I used Marriott points for a hotel across the street from the wharf. I found that hotels were booked up long ago and had to keep checking back. BTW, since there are 2 families in our travel party and I only had enough points for 1 room I have booked, canceled and rebooked at least twice as prices changed. Even if you have found your hotel and booked a room, keep checking as I have noticed that prices fluxuate or that better priced rooms become available.

We used DVC points to book the Club Intrawest over by the Sheraton Wall Centre. Until that came through, we had booked at the Pan Pacific at the AAA rate which was roughly $280 a night (including taxes) with breakfast. Some people have reported getting much better deals at both locations using blind booking through Hotwire and Priceline.

May I ask how many points a night the Club Intrawest was?

70 points for two nights in a one bedroom. We were planning to use some points to help pay for the cruise, but DVC stopped accepting them for the Alaskan cruises, so we used them instead for the hotels before and after the cruise.

We were originally booked at the Pan Pacific in a Club Level Room on the AAA rate of $321.75 a night for partial city/harbour view.

Then I found an American Express deal for the Fairmont Pacific Rim down the street under AmEx's New Hotels Program. The deal is: stay 2 nights, get the third night free. We are staying 3 nights anyway, so it worked out perfectly! The Gold Level rooms there are $499 a night, but once you do the math [($499x2)/3=$333] we are close to the Pan Pacific rate at a new & better hotel!! So we booked there. Plus I like the fact that FPR has queen beds vs. the double beds at PP.

The non-Gold level rooms at FPR start at $379, so if you are planning at least 3 nights anyway, you could snag a 5-star hotel room for $253/nt for the first 3 nights. The promo code for this deal is PAXW.

I just called MS and was told the Club Intrawest has suspended trading for the time being as they are low on inventory. May I ask when you booked your room? The MS CM said CI has been closed to trading for two weeks.

April 7. We must have just made it. People have been getting good deals at the Sheraton Wall Centre which is in the same complex. I wonder if everything is booked up there now. Clearly, we have a totally full cruise. I''m wondering what we will be able to book tomorrow night (we are Gold CC).

Good morning everyone. Does anyone know.. I am able to start booking excursion on 4/26... Can I do it midnight eastern tonight?

Thanks!
Joe

Yes, if you are Gold CC you can book at 12:01 AM EDT. Remember you have to log in after Midnight. If you log in before midnight, it won't let you book after midnight and you will have to log out and back in anyway. Also, you are not booked for an activity until you save it and have it confirmed. So if you have an activity (like a Palo reservation) that's important to you, save it and get it confirmed first, then book and save the other activities.

My CC site shows I have "105" days until I set sail. Wouldn't that mean that gold members can access NOW? As of 12:01 AM this morning?

Edited - Okay - very strange. My countdown shows 106 days which would mean you can access it at 12:01 tonight but for some reason, my CC site shows "Only 105 days until your cruise sets sail!"

Regardless - hope all you "gold" members get everything you want! But save some for us Silver members!!!

Are there any Platinum members posting.. Just curious if the day at "Tracey Arm" PALO is offering brunch?

JillJill reported a few posts back that she booked Palo brunch for Thursday at 1030 which would be the day we are at Tracey Arm. Good luck tonight!
