Darthvader92 is officially a cast member. He will be working quick service in the food court at Port Orleans. He starts there tomorrow. So if anyone is in Disney stop by and say HI.

In the world now with my parents. We were planning to go to Port Orleans for dinner one night next week. Will definately say hello.

Very cool! The reason I asked previouly where he was going to be assigned is I have several friends who work for the Mouse...one works at O'Hana and one is in attractions management in the MK (he used to manage food and beverage at Port Orleans), and several others. If he needs anything, let me know :)

Right now, we are here wondering if we are going to make this cruise. My father is having a speech/swallowing weakness and the neurologist is having difficulty making a diagnosis....the next thing we are ruling out is ALS. If this turns out to be the case, we may end up not going on this cruise if he would start deteriorating...I guess that what trip insurance is for, though we hope more than you all can imagine that we don't need to exercise it. Right now, he does not have any other symptoms-in fact, this is the only symptom he has had since this all started last June so if it stays this way, we will be on the boat.

Keeping you in our prayers, I lost a mother and brother to ALS , I hope nothing but the best results for you.

I will have your father in my prayers and hope for the best diagnosis.

Thanks everyone :) We just are a bit stunned and his neurologist is scratching his head too because he does not have any other symptoms. EMG testing is scheduled for next Friday...hopefully this will point us in the right direction. He doesn't have any other symptoms except for the speech/swallowing difficulties and when your 65 year old father is driving, plowing snow, working with power tools in his shop, and skiing...a diagnosis like this seems rather surreal. It wasn't even the neurologist who suggested this-it was the ENT doc that the neurologist referred him to. The other issue is his speech/swallowing can improve and worsen from day to day-usually with ALS....once it is gone, it's gone.
I'll keep you all posted as we find out what is going on.

Hopefully the diagnosis will be something that can be cured or managed. It's really terrible to be having a health problem and the doctors can't find the cause.

Hi,

I am sorry for what you are going through with your Dad. If it is ok with you, I will keep him in my prayers.

Thanks everyone...we are hoping for the best too. The fact that this started last June and he no other symptoms is encouraging.
EMG is scheduled for Friday and then hopefully we will know more shortly after. I will keep you all posted.

Hello!

Please add us to the first page list of travelers. My husband, daughter (12 at time of sailing) and I will all be on this cruise too. We are traveling with my mom, sister (Dlandfan) and her family. It's our second Disney cruise (we went to Mexico when Disney was on the west coast a couple of years ago) and second trip to Alaska (we went on Princess previously). We loved both the Disney Cruise and Alaska, so we can't wait to combine the two!

DustBunny (Corey) :)
