August 7th, 2010 Mediterranean Cruise

What a crazy week at work! I was 2 pages behind.

I have to throw in my 2cents on the credit cards though - I was told that you must call your credit card company -whoever they are - and let them know where you are traveling or they will likely shut your card off because they think its someone that has stolen it and is using it far outside of your normal billing address.

And it sounds like we are meeting at the pool on Saturday afternoon, my kids will be thrilled. Our family will be wearing royal blue. Other than that, can we come up with any way to identify ourselves or will we just wander around and ask people randomly if they're from disboards?

Has anyone created a list of all of all of us that you could send me? I just haven't had the time to search back through the thread and make a list of everyone.

If people are wearing their lanyards, they could use the custom graphic I sent out the other day. That should help a bit. I included my disboards name and our real names on the ones I printed out.

The heat has finally hit the Pacific NW. 96 degrees yesterday. The only good thing is I have to work 9 hours in the A/C today.

How can you get packed so early. I am pre-packed (got all my stuff in my craft/college kids room) but am afraid to pack it all because it would have permenent wrinkles.

I wll pack the last weekend before the cruise but I'm selecting special things and keeping them apart for the cruise.

Well I am happy to report I now have 3 suitcases packed and two more to go! As I was packing for DH, I realized that there will of course be ironing to do. I have never sent out clothes to be pressed on DCL...have any of you? Have you encountered any problems?

I was thinking it would be nice to send out what needed to be done on the first day and not worry about getting clothes ready for the rest of the trip. Because "you know who" will be the one seeking out the iron. I do have some of that wrinkle free spray too - that stuff works great!

I have sent my shirts out on the first day of most of our cruises. It's inexpensive and they do a great job. Just send them all out that first day and they are back pressed and crisp for the week. I'm definitely doing it this cruise. No ironing for my DW or me beforehand. It's very easy and I highly recommend it.

Thanks! I am definitely going to do it! I am on vacation...no ironing, laundry, cooking, etc...for me! I figure if I pack now or later, there will still be wrinkles.

I'm slowly, but surely crossing things off my to do list -
planned out all DD and my outfits - so happy to have that done!!
purchased small necessities (toilet seat covers, trial size hair stuff, bonine)
requested child's meal for plane ride (which I didn't even know you could do until I read it here! thank you!)

Still have a bunch to do, but I'm getting there! I can't believe we're so close!!

Well I worked on our larger family suitcase tonight. I am currently at 38lbs. I am hoping to stay just around that so I can bring some goodies home

I also just printed out the nametags for the lanyards tonight. Thinking of laminating them to slip inside the plastic sleeve of the lanyard. Then I can cross that off my list too

My DH and I will be on this cruise as well; Just stumbled across this thread while doing some research on photos people have posted from previous Med cruises. (SO completely excited!)

Anyway....never knew these thread/groups existed. Would love to join. My hubby and I travel alone (no kids) but are completely addicted to DCL. This cruise will be #8 (so far). Since we have no travel partners, it would be fun to have people to connect with on the trip.

My Kids (son age 9 and Daughter age 12) are curious as to ages of other kids on here. the last cruise we did was September 2008 repositioning. Not a lot of kids since it was school time. They are both curious about kids their age this time... Not a biggee though!

FYI we arrive on the 5th and are staying at the Hotel Regina in Barcelona. Are there still families planning on the Chocolate Tour the 6th at 12:00, so we can meet up before the cruise? Cant wait to meet all of you..We are so excited. this is our last vacation the 4 of us before baby-to-be comes along (dont worry I meet the pregnancy "cut off"...we had to switch cruises last minute... a few weeks ago....just because of that!)
