August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Jinny, we are flying in the day before the cruise, but when they kick us off the ship :rotfl2: we are taking a taxi back to Long Beach airport to pick up a rental car. It's $33. by taxi and I priced Super Shuttle and they wanted $40. for the 3 of us. I went on the port website, http://www.sanpedro.com/ and I think that's where I found the links for transportation and pricing.

I think this would be another T.O.P. and shared with Jinny :mickeybar .

Is anyone flying in the morning of Aug. 6th? We are. If you are flying that morning, what kind of transportation are you using to get to the port? My DH didn't want to drive.
Jinny we are flying the morning of August 6. We have the transportation arranged with DCL. Hopefully it doesn't take us all day to get to the ship. The
good thing is having the transportation with DCL is if you're late they are supposed to hold the ship. We will arrive about 10 so I don't think that will be a problem.

T.O.P. (top of the page), that is funny :goodvibes
We were told that if we missed the DCL shuttle, another one will arrive in 30 minutes. Hopefully, there's not much traffice!

Stacey, Have a great cruise! I don't know about anyone else but I want to hear everything about your cruise!
Have a couple of :drinking1 for me!

No you don't.....you won't have any escargot for me, you will only have chocolate souffle for me.

Have a great trip and we want all the details good and bad. :mickeybar :drinking:

I TOLD you I will not eat anything slimey!! Yuck!

Off we go, guys. I'll try to take notes and write when I can. Wish it was "US" instead of "me".....:guilty:

Have a good week and take care, all!! :wave2: :boat:

Escargot are not slimey. They are covered in butter and garlic.....YUMMMMMM!!!!!
This is one time when you should listen to your mother and eat them.

DD and I agree!! I have had sea escargot and think they are just as yummy! Both DDs had escargot last year on our cruise and they both liked it! DDs did a great job of trying different foods on the cruise and the servers were great in accommodating them if they wanted to try different items.

Have a great weekend everyone! :sunny: :sunny: It looks to be a hot one in the valley!

Jenny, I know you posted months ago about your DD's CA High School exit exam results, well we finally got Kenney's results today and he passed everything! So glad he doesn't have to worry about taking it again!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Congratulations to Kenney! :cheer2: :cheer2: He must be excited and relieved as was Brynée. Will Kenney have finals soon?; Brynée will have 3 days of finals and then will be off for a couple of days. She's taking summer school which begins on the 13th - Chemistry...she wants to get it out of the way.

I really need to get with it and make a ressie for San Pedro for Aug 5. Is anyone staying there on Friday night? Last year, we drove down the day of our RCCL cruise, but this year I think we'll go in late Friday evening. Tuesday I was rear-ended by a student at Brynée's high school so I think I'll leave the day before the cruise just for peace of mind! My neck is still a little stiff; Brynée and her friend Elyse only felt the jolt but don't appear to have been affected.

:wave2: Welcome emememem
You will have to tell us about your family and who is cruising with you. For us it's myself, DH and DD age 11.
I see you will be living in Windermere soon, we have friends that live there, in fact they are right behind the MK.

Jenny, I've been looking at hotels for the night before the cruise too. I have 2 ressies now but I may be changing them. They are in San Pedro and we may now stay in Long Beach and get a rental car since we get in around 1:30 on Friday. I think the Holiday Inn may have a package that includes the room and parking, here's their number 310-514-1414.

Stacey called me from her verandah this afternoon while she was waiting to go to the lifeboat drill. She said the terminal is huge and they call you by some sort of numbering system to board. She thought boarding began around 1:00. They arrived at the terminal shortly after they began. She said there are separate check in areas for Castaway Club members and concierge. The Castaway Club gifts were not in the staterooms yet, not sure when they would be delivered. She did say that most of their suitcases had been delivered.

Jenny, Kenney has finals the 15 & 16th (last day of school) and then he starts summer school on the 21st. They are on a block schedule so they only have 4 classes each quarter so he has 2 finals the first day and the other 2 the second day.
I'm jealous of Stacey today!!! But I won't be on August 6th!!!!

Sorry to hear you are leaving CT, I grew up in Branford, live up closer to Hartford now. Tell us about your cruisers (kids, etc.)

Barb, Thanks for passing on the news of Stacey on her verandah! Last time I called my parents from Deck 10 before we left, it is so cool.

We got our passports in the mail yesterday so we are ready now.

Barb: Thanks for the # for the Holiday Inn. I'll try them and the Sheraton. I was thinking of doing the stay/cruise package...parking at the terminal is close to $11/day!

That's great that Stacey is off on her cruise. I hope she has a great time!

Vickie: Brynee is also on a block schedule but she still has 6 classes each semester. Her summer school is 4 days/week, 4 hours/day!

Brynee's summer school doesn't sound too bad and she gets the credits for the course as a full semester? I did some summer school in college and in 6 weeks got a whole semester credit.

Jessica just got her summer reading booklet for high school. She has to read 3 books over the summer for English, Social Studies and Science. She has choices for two, but a specific book for science. Hope she doesn't think she will read them all on the cruise. She is so busy with theater in July, but she has weekends free.
