August 6, 2005 Mexican Riviera..Who's In?

Vickie, we are on the opposite side of the country, we live in Delaware. It's a 50 year old Cape Cod and we got the going price for houses in our area, especially since it is a relatively small house - around 1600 sq feet. We had not done a lot of improvements, but we did put on a 16x24 addition with powder room and fireplace and added central air. We think the addition is what sold the house so quickly.
I can't believe the price of the shoebox with bathroom that just sold by you. I'm still sitting here in shock over that :earseek: .

Our new house is 4 miles from the current house and it's price has gone up a lot since we signed the contract way back in November. So that was a wise investment. That house is 2650 sq feet. DH will not know what to do with all the room (he was always lived in small houses) and he is definately not used to a garage. For me it's a bit larger version of the house I grew up in.

Jilljill, where do you live? I hope you got a good price for the house! Real Estate has gone through the roof where we live, across the street a 1000 sq ft 3br/1bath just went for 490,000!
Stacey, I'll PM you with ressie info to link dining. Let me know if you get it
Vickie

This is why most of us do NOT live in California! Holy smokes.

Got your message, Vickie....we'll be all set!

Stace, aren't you supposed to be going into work?!? :teeth: ::yes::

Thank goodness we bought in 1981 when prices were relatively low! Ours started out identical to the one I told you about but we've added 1070sq feet since we bought it, even with the selling prices I don't think we could ever afford to buy anything else here!

I've been going back trying to read the early pages of this thread to find out a little about you guys. Looks like there may have been a couple of others at one point who have changed dates?
Stacey and Jill did you know each other before?
Better go get the kids to hurry up and get ready for school.

Vickie, Stacey and I only knew each other from the 10 day Xmas cruise thread, up until last month. Then Stacey decided to fly to WDW to meet me and my family. She's such a blast and will make you laugh over the silliest things; like scaring bees :teeth: .

Now, jilljill, don't go giving me a bad reoutation before they've had a chance to meet me!
I am a very nice person! Normal....rather quiet and shy. Ha! NOT.
I am normal, but when it comes to Disney, I believe in turning 8 years old again and having fun!

I think the description of yourself was worse than the one I gave. I thought you acted more like aa 11 or 12 year old, not an 8 year old. Most 8 year olds don't oggle bartenders :earseek: (unless that child would be my daughter :teeth: )

I wasn't oggling! I was doing a study on the human physique.

I could have gotten a T.O.P. the way you did Stacey, but I chose not to this time.

I heard the Orlando airport is closing at 12 noon on Friday. Sure am glad I'm not at WDW this weekend, although a good friend of mine is. She should be fine, she's staying at the boardwalk until next week.

We were down in the basement again....I'm on the run.....

Good Morning!

Beautiful day here, it's so hard to imagine what's going on in Florida.
I have several relatives who live there, they have for years, so I know they were prpared and will be fine.
I hope that if any of you have friends or family there, that they, too, are riding out the storm safely!

Everyone enjoying their long weekend? I haven't done much of anything. I did manage to mess up my AOL so that I can't get on these boards with AOL. Lucky for me I have MSN also. I just don't like MSN, I'm not as familiar with it. I never have been able to find a spot on MSN to close a window.
And my e-mail, favorites, and buddy list are all on AOL. Hmmm.

Well, off to read the rest of the boards.....

Have a great day!!

Stacey

Hi everyone,

I feel like I was on here not too long ago, but it must have been 5 days and I had to start 6 pages ago! We were only 2 down so Stacey was just here a minute ago.

I was wondering what the Magic did on Friday since it couldn't go to Castaway Cay. I wonder where the ships went and how they handled Saturday with not being able to be in Port Canaveral (I am assuming). Does anyone know what they do?

I guess they have hurricanes near the Mexican Riviera, I hope they don't have any next summer when we are there.

We are going to a friend's house in an hour, they have a heated pool and jacuzzi. Good thing because it is cloudy and only in the 70's here in CT today.

Cathy

We are doing nothing this weekend, which is a good thing. We are having one of our very few "heat waves" of the summer. Weather in the 90's yesterday and today, supposed to cool down a little tomorrow. We are just across the bay from San Francisco, so if anyone is familiar with San Francisco weather we are usually just a couple of degrees warmer. We get our warmest weather in Sept and Oct.
Been watching a lot of the weather channel, following the hurricane and thinking I will never book during hurricane season again, we were lucky just missing Charley!
Have a great weekend!
Vickie

My daughter and I felt very lucky to leave WDW just a day or two ahead of Charley, too! I would have been freaking out.

The Magic had been docked in Galveston, Texas. About 500 people got off the ship there, and flew home. It sailed out of Galveston yesterday afternoon, and will dock at Port Canaveral tomorrow, providing there wasn't extensive damage at the port.
The Wonder will be docked there tomorrow, too. They had an at-sea cruise (no port stops) and the cruises this coming week will be totally at sea. The Magic may make a Western route, and stop in one or two of the ports in Mexico.

On the one hand, sea days are great.....but I would be pretty bummed if I had planned on snorkeling (which is what we mostly do) and seeng new ports and we couldn't do it.
Cruisers were all given the choice to still cruise, or take a credit for another cruise. A lot of it depends on whether or not passengers can get into Florida at all.

I have a friend who was going to try to call me from her cell phone, from Orlando, today. I imagine that all the lines are pretty tied up, so I'm not holding my breath. If she calls, I'll let you know how things are going down there.

Enjoy the weekend!

Stacey

P.S. Vickie, San Francisco is one of my favorite places to visit. We plan on taking the kids up there one of these years! In between cruises, maybe?
