August 30th 2014, 7 night Mediterranean Cruise - Disney Magic

All us done except for excursions. ......what to do with my time.......

There is not enough time ;) I love to read about the ports and the Disboards every chance I get ;)

What are you all looking forward to the most? Today I am thinking about the Aquadunk :scratchin

I'm really looking forward to it all. Has anyone looked into tours yet? Is anyone staying post cruise in Barcelona? We were going to stay at the same hotel post as pre but the price jump made me gasp air...we are now staying at the Hotel Jazz. Anyone ever stay there?

I have not stayed at the Hotel Jazz but I have been reading A LOT of hotel reviews today and it looks good.
After much procrastination we have finally booked the Tryp Apollo for two nights pre-cruise. There seems to be a distinct lack of reasonably priced family rooms in Barcelona and this looks like it is in a good location and the price is ok.

Not thinking too much about excursions. With two young children we will probably just look around the port area and head back to the ship. I would like to go to Pisa, but will do that by ourselves on the train.
We will probably book the post cruise excursion as we have a later flight.

:wave2: hi we booked this cruise on the Panama Canal cruise but changed our minds about doing it to only change our plans back again, our flights to the USA are booked just have to book the one way to Europe we are doing the Transalantic cruise back we are quite excited, we are travelling with our will be then 17,15 & 13 year old children and hopefully some friends :)

Hiiii

We have just changed from our original Med cruise on the Magic in June to this one on August 30th as I had forgotten a prior commitment. We are so happy to still be able to go...just a few weeks later. I am adding myself here and also to the FE! I saw the google form further up the posts so I'll go fill in our info. We are DH, DD(6) and myself. It's our second time around the Med on the Magic and we cannot wait!!!

:wave2: Hello WAMUMOF4 and lelalittlelegs, glad to have you with us! :D There is also a fb closed page if anyone is interested.

It is our second time on the Med as well, looking forward to taking it a bit easy this time.:cool1:

Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't haunt Trip Advisor, Cruise Critic and the Dis every bit as much as the first time ;)

Ladyshopper, I agree about the Aquadunk! I am also trying not to get my hopes up that the twist and spout will still be ok for adults when we go like it is now ::yes:::hyper:

Hi, everyone! Second cruise for me, first Disney, and it will be a first cruise for my two DD (24 and 12) and the older one's friend (also 24). Grad trip for my older, she takes the bar exam Aug 1 so we had to go after that date, which was a shame because she really wanted to do the one with the stop in Greece, but we couldn't travel while she was studying for the bar.

I am trying to get caught up on all the things you do -- I added our names to the FE list (I think I did, anyway!), it sounds like fun!

The two 24 year olds might be interested in a mixology, if that's acceptable.

Anyway, none of us have been anywhere in Europe outside the UK, and on my first cruise (honeymoon, so it's been awhile!), we just grabbed whatever port excursions or activities we felt like doing that day, so we need to figure out whether to do port excursions or private tours or whatever. The grad trip DD loves art and architecture, so we will be looking for those types of things at the various ports (at least for her and her friend, the younger and I will probably do more relaxed / less organized / wander around kind of stuff).

We may do Greece or the UK after, depending on how far I can make the dollars stretch for the port excursions, hotels, airfare, etc.

Welcome Tech Mama!

Mixology is a lot of fun when it is a smaller group. We tried to arrange a private one with our disboards group, but only had 14 participants out of the 25 they require. So, they opened it up to the rest of the passengers and we FILLED diversions!!!! (Now O'gills). It was not fun at all, actually, with so many people. If we cannot find enough people to arrange a private one we will probably skip mixology for Tequila tasting.

Greece should be relatively cheap after the cruise :D, but the truth is I haven't traveled to the islands for about 10 years now.... Let me know if I can help!

It's not actually the islands she is interested in. The Parthenon, the Temple of Apollo, the Acropolis. Something like Delphi might be nice, but the chances are we would just be going to Athens.

Hi again Tech Mama, Delphi is a little far, actually, from Athens and would require a bit of planning. Athens is easy-peasy and if you were interested in day trips you could go to the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio :)

Probably "just" Athens, then. Thank you! If you have any recommendations about things to see while we are there (besides the obvious tourist stuff), please let me know.

Happy New Year Mary and other fellow cruisers! :goodvibes

Here's a poll question to get us back in the 'dreaming about the cruise as motivation to get me through my working day' frame of mind...

early or late dining??

Happy new year all! We have early dining. But in all honestly we might only go to the dining room 4 times.

Hi guys,

Hope you all had a great festive period and New Year! Should know by this time next month if we are definitely coming - I'm 99% sure we will be now so i'm starting to get a little more excited and start planning things.

I know i have missed some new entries and other bits and pieces so will go back for a read.

WRT dining we will be second seating, we did 2nd on our 1st cruise and 1st on our 2nd cruise and second seating definitely suits us better :)

Here's another question for you all. How do you like to spend your evenings on the cruise? As of yet SH and I haven't really spent anytime in the adult only areas - usually to tired (that's more me than him - I'm no good with anything tired) but as we have done Villefranche and Rome we have promised we'll have a 'night out' this time!
