August 29th, 2009--Eastern Magic...Let's Get it Started!

OMG my house looks like Best Buy...

2 iPod Touches charging, 2 iPods charging, 1 Blackberry charging, 1 cell phone charging, 1 nintendo charging, 1 laptop charging, 1 video camera charging and rechargable batteries charging.

The electric company is going to luv me in September.

I know.. we got 2 iPhones, 1 blackberry, 1 rechargeable battery, 4 iPods(kids have 2 each no idea why they need both), 3 DS's..... I just look at it this way, I"m frontloading all the electricity we're saving from the 2 weeks we won't be home. Forgot DD's cell.....

We don't leave TX until the afternoon of the 28th, but only flying to Orlando that day and then taking the bus the next morning. We will have the computer and both phones so we will probably be on the boards until the very last minute!

I can hardly wait!!! :woohoo:

Hello everyone I am the DS of RunDance Skate. I was just wondering if anyone else is interested in doing some geocaching while on the cruise?

That's not fair! Those lifeboats are huge, take my DD too!

To save time waiting in line, I thought I would bring my own stamps for the postcards at CC. Just want to clarify, is the cost of the postage stamp the regular US postcard stamp price?

I don't know if you can do that. I just took the postcard off the fridge we sent to ourselves last cruise. Yup, I put all kinds of junk on my fridge!

It has 3 Bahamas stamps, 2 for .20 cents, 1 for .10 cents. Did I mention it takes weeks to get the card?!

Tip for new cruisers... you'll find Mickey postcards in the desk drawer in your stateroom.

I've got one too many excursions booked. Do I need to do my cancellations a certain number of days before the cruise, or can I cancel it at guest services once I get on the cruise? I don't want to get charged for cancelling too late.
Thanks!!!

Like TVEPFOX said, you need Bahamian stamps, so unless you happen to have some on hand, you'll have to wait in line there. If you don't want to wait in line, trek back there mid-day, there's usually no one around then.

Well, the game plan is to leave at 5am in the morning. Papa and Spencer are in bed but I'm sure I won't be getting there tonight. Most of the car has been packed but I have the electronics charging, checking this thread, and all the last minute things that need to be done.
Everyone have a safe trip and see you on Deck 9 at 3 pm on the 29th.

I'm not sure how many days you have to do it in advance, but I'm pretty sure that once you get on the ship it is too late (they already have the tickets in your room and have charged them to your account). I would call or go online now and cancel what you don't need.

I'm so jealous of you that get 2 free bags to check on. I'm flying JetBlue and only get 1 checked bag per person for free :sad2:

So I have 2 more quick questions:

1.) Can you use your shipboard credit for the tips?

2.) For pirate night, do most people wear their costume just to the pirate party or to dinner as well? pirate:

Can't wait to see everyone and their shiny new bracelets :woohoo: This is going to be a fun trip :cool1:

TVEPFOX..how's the hurricane scene looking? Do you think it will miss our locations?

Yes, your onboard credit can go toward tips, provided you charge your tips to your onboard account.

We wear our pirate costumes to the show that night, to dinner, and of course to the party as well! Dinner that night will be a pirate theme as well.

A week from this morning we will be heading to the airport!:cool1:

Well, we're off..... 6 bags, thanks SW for 2 bags per person free!!!!! We leave the house at 1 today, then fly out tomorrow at 4:30. I'll check in from my iPhone remotely..... So, I'll turn off the lights right before they call my boarding number!!!!!!

Absolutely wear it to the dinner! The servers are in pirate attire, and they have photo ops in the lobby. :thumbsup2

If a picture is worth a thousand words, we should frame this one. It looks fantastic for us. Yes, there are two very, very small floaters that just blew off the coast of Africa, but they shouldn't amount to anything. It takes 2 weeks for a system to reach the Bahamas, and two weeks from today we'll be slipping cool drinks on CC with our toes in the warm sand.

My family has always cruised this time of year. DH and I have sat up nights watching the wx channel, reading maps and praying for smooth seas. We've been very lucky over the years, only a few curve balls. I'm so happy to say it looks like the God's of the sea are smiling on us again this year. Yipe!

We've got some weather to deal with here in the Northeast for the next few days thanks to Hurricane Bill. Hopefully it will be wheels up for the Baker's Sunday morning. DH, works for FOX Newschannel, he was called yesterday for hurricane duty until Saturday night. He's not a happy camper, but it's his job.

This will be my last weather post unless something unexpected pops up.

Have a great day. We're almost there friends!

Edit: I'm such a sap. When my post went up I saw my countdown clock on 2 days. My eyes filled up with tears!

UPDATE: The system in yellow is a small tropical wave that was a floater at 9:30 this morning. The NHC highlighted it around 1pm.
