August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

Thanks everyone!

My kids are DD14 & DS 11. DD is a typical teenage girl which is why I gave her her own small suitcase. Heaven forbid her things should commingle with ours LOL!

I knew I had too much. I think if I rethink my suitcase I might be able to lose the carryon. Are any of you bringing mugs? Those four refillable Contemporary mugs take up alot of room. Do you suppose the sell similar type mugs in the gift shop because if they do I can lose them too.

And I am certainly not going to eliminate any booze NOT EVER!!

Note to self.....lose half of what you packed.....

Thanks much guys,
Mary Rose

PS Bobby - I think All Seas gives a gift in the cabin

Just filled out our docs....That is something I really don't like to do, talk about repetition.

I am really not in the mood to go on this vacation. I hope something gives soon.

I think I need some Jack intravenously to get in the party mood.

Lyn...Good Luck with your son, but hair does grow. Tattoos are forever.

Going to 3 circles to visit J and T.

Joanna

Joanna,,, what gives? What can we do to make you inthe mood???
Doreen

Joanna:

I am well aquainted with the tatoo. Did I mention that I also have a 24 year old who lives in California? He temporarily moved in with a tatoo artist and he now has them on his back and legs.

Matt my 17 year old who will be cruising with us got a tatoo last year after we can home from the cruise. He has a sun on his shoulder. Needless to say that I was not happy and it does last forever. My boys are good boys but I think they were put on this earth to torment their mother. But I love them anyway.

Oh and I forgot to mention that one year for "my" birthday my husband went and got a mickey mouse firefighter tatoo on his leg. Happy Birthday to me!!!!

Hi everyone! :wave2: I'm here! I worked today, then stopped at a friend's house on the way home, made dinner, then we had one of our meetings to go to this evening(religious meeting. We have 3 meetings a week!).

Anyway, here I am! :sunny:

I actually SCREAMED this afternoon and scared DH and DSs! LOL They were all in the kitchen and I was walking down the hallway and it hit me like a bolt of lightning: OUR VACATION STARTS A WEEK FROM TOMORROW!!!! :hyper: They thought I saw a spider or something. :p (I never scream at spiders, I squish them. lol)

I will post the "1 week to go!" countdown tomorrow morning. Next Friday morning I will post a "1 DAY to go" post, for those us who might still be around!

This Sunday night I am having a pre-cruise party here at my house. I already bought tropical decorations to decorate the familyroom with. First of all, I'll make all of us sit down and fill out and sign the documents. Then I'll put them away and we'll have some kind of tropical dinner. I have no idea what yet. lol Then I'm going to give DH and DSs a "DCL Trivia test", and I have Disney Dollars and some other "prizes" that they can win. I know this might sound corny, but I just thought it sounded like a fun way to start the vacation early! I wish some of you lived close, I'd invite you over too! (Anyone near Boston?? LOL)

As far as packing goes, this is what I'm planning (Haven't started packing yet): 2 large suitcases (1 for me, 1 for DH), 2 medium suitcases (1 for each DS), 2 wheeled carry-on sized suitcases in which I'll pack our cameras, medications, bathing suits, and anything else I think we might need for the night before, at the Radisson. I'm *hoping* to not have to open the 4 bigger suitcases until we get on the ship. I'm also hoping to squeeze our dress clothes into the suitcases, since I am planning on sending them ALL out to be pressed as soon as we get onto the ship, anyway. This weekend I'm going to start packing, just to see if I do have the room to do that.

That's it for now... I hope all who are traveling tomorrow or this weekend has a wonderful trip, great weather, and arrive safely!!! We'll see you at the Radisson, or on the ship!!!!
:wave2:

So funny that you're talking about packing. That is what I have spent a good part of this evening doing.

We travel light usually, 3 carry on's for the 4 of us. I have no problem doing wash when I'm in my DVC villa. however, with the dressy stuff, I am now thinking at a minumum 4 carry on's and one maybe two garment bags. Then there are the shoes and the other stuff, not to mention what we buy when we get to Flroida.

I am almost thinking we will have to check luggage on the plane. Haven't done that in at least 4 years (probably, the last cruise.)

DD14 & DS 11. DD is a typical teenage girl which is why I gave her her own small suitcase. Heaven forbid her things should commingle with ours LOL!

LOL , I have a 16 year old BOY like that.

My boys are upset that they have to 'share' suitcases - oh the horror. They could stay home too.

We're working on five suitcases - hoping to fit everything into these. Two carry ons and an 'on the road' bag. Plus the garmet bag. Too many shoes.

I'm not in the mood to pack. These last days are the worst. Too much to do, too much to think about.

Lyn - my son had his hair dyed blond the other day too but didn't get a short cut. It's suppose to be streaky blond but I think he looks like a calico cat. It's growing on me though.

Speaking of teen sons and haircuts, I gave DS16 a haircut the other day. Its a crew cut, but a short one. He loves it, but I think he looks like a skin head :( His hair grows fast, though. lol

My DH is basically bald, so I do give him a very short crew cut, but it looks fine on him. DS13 will be taken for a haircut next week, he likes it short, but not a short crew cut.

Thanks for replying everyone! It seems like I have a bit more luggage than most but I'm not too out of whack. I lost some stuff and eliminated one bag, so now I'm down to 8. I can't see as how I'm going to get it any lower than that.

Mary Anne - that's funny about you 16-year-old son. My 11-year-old son didn't want to share either but he's still young enough for me to "persuade".

Karel - I like your style. You're right, they could share a suitcase or they could stay home - Love that!

Joanna - Sorry your not in the mood. I hope whatever is bringing you down clears up ASAP. Please let us know if there is anything we can do :grouphug:

I haven't started packing at all yet, actually haven't even looked through the kids closets yet, BUT I will take them school shopping tomorrow, so they will then have plenty.

Starting to feel a little (maybe a lot LOL) overwhelmed. Work is insane, the thought of what I will come back to makes me think if going is worth it in the first place. (but it is)

Tomorrow is one week. :Pinkbounc

Anyone watching the news. They are talking about "AWOL" Alcohol WithOut Liquid You inhale through a machine for 20 minutes and then you get drunk. I really don't think It will be successful here, it makes its debut here tomorrow. I would rather taste what makes me tipsy rather than inhale it.

That sounds...sad. And something that AA will have a field day with.

i just saw the promo for this on the news but didn't watch it (watching an infor commercial for Dean Martin tapes). Anyway, that is really strange, I want to enjoy the art of drinking it too!

Hey! You are one of the gang! See you onboard.

Hi All... here I sit at 6AM AT WORK.... I came in extra early today so I can leave by 11 to take the kids to the dentist, orthodontist and then get my nails and toes done and then drop the hampster off at my DD's friends who is babysitting.

Im down to almost hours here.. WOOO HOOO - it seems like so long ago that I booked this trip and now it is almost here.

Mary-Rose... I totally agree with Doreen... if you need to save space - take your undies out before you take booze out.... Make room for Booze at all costs!!!

Lynr - dont worry about the mohawk we dont care... Last year at my DD's first communion my then 7 year old nephew walks into church with a mohawk with blue Gel in it. Picture the scene... packed church, all the kids in their dresses & suits, all the parents all dressed up and this little boy (who is adorable) all dressed up walking down the aisle with a blue mohawk... Everyone is turning and pointing at him. At the time DH and I were mortified - especially when he sat in our row. I even had one of my friends at work who's daughter was also making her communion come up to me and say "SO I see mohawk boy is with you". Im glad now I can look back and laugh... its only hair and in the grand scheme of things doesnt mean anything.

ONE WEEK TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ginny - Sounds like you have a busy day ahead, so I just want to take a sec. to wish you a safe and wonderful trip to WDW and we'll see you at the Radisson next Friday! Woo Hoo & Yippee! Looking forward to many a smoothie drink onboard!

Terry - Thanks for the "last" weekly countdown. I guess you maybe need to start a daily one!

Jill - You most certainly are one of the gang. You are bringing the kamikazes right? then you're most certainly a full-fledged, card-carrying, member of the "Booze Cruise"LOL. Also, are you using a Disney arranged flight? I ask because I believe they do everything humanly possible for you to make the boat and so then you wouldn't have to be concerned. If you booked your own air maybe you could move it up to an earlier flight if your at all concerned. I remember years ago DH and I sailed on the Big Red Boat. We had a 9 am same day flight and we made it to the boat fine..

Ginny:

Have a safe trip down to Florida and a great week before the cruises we will see you on board.

I totally agree about the hair. My husband is going crazy but I really don't care when it comes right down to it.

I hope you day flies by. Your schedule today is just like mine, ortho, dentist, finger nails, toe nails and hair. Tomorrow I am having a new heater installed so we haven't even gotten the suitcases down yet, maybe Sunday.

Here's my countdown: Only 4 MORE DAYS OF WORK!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Lyn:wave2:

P.S. we have change our hotel the day before the cruise to the Polynesian, maybe I'll see someone there.
