August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

You're lucky Ginny! While I was working at Moffitt it was a tie everyday! Not that I dislike ties, mind you. I'm just not very good at getting them to look right! :)

Wow! Three formal nights! DH really is a nut. ;)

Travis and I always book Palo on either the formal night or semi-formal night to avoid wearing our suits three nights. While we both like to get "spiffyed" up on the cruise, two nights is usually our limit.

Is John going all the way with a tux or is he going the suit route?

John will be wearing his suit 3 times on our cruise. It's a beautiful suit :) He'll have 3 different dress shirts and 3 different ties though. I liked the idea of renting tuxes for him and the boys because it'd be that much less to pack, but they all own nice suits already, and they're comfortable in them, so we decided to skip the tuxes.

I plan on buying John and the boys matching Mickey Mouse ties for one of the formal nights. I like the ones that aren't too garish or obvious, where you have to look closely to see the Mickey head shapes in the pattern. Otherwise I'm sure my teen sons wouldn't wear a tie with Mickey Mouse on it. :p

Terri - at what ages did you boys start to like dressing up. My DS hates to get dressed up - if it was up to him he would wear jeans and a red shirt every day. I bought him a suit for my DD's communion and had to bribe him with a trip to TRU if he wore it - he did.

He agreed to wear a tie on the cruise only if I found him one like daddys Tommy Bahama tie with the palm trees. Thankfully I found one in JCpenney and it didnt cost me $55 like DH's did.

Terry--

I'm sure all the guys in your group will look great. I actually bought my very first suit for my first seven-night cruise on the Disney Magic in 2002. (Can you believe I made it to age 26 without owning a suit?!?! :) ) I'll have to admit, it is fun to get dressed up. The formal pictures with Mickey and Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and yes, even Pluto, all dressed in their formal wear always look great.

I have three, yes three, Disney ties! Two of them are older though and really shouldn't be worn in public anymore. I think my tie tying ability ruins them! I think the matching Mickey ties are an excellent idea!

Hello everyone,
Getting so close,, we are so excited. Jason,, cant wait to see your adventure on line.
I have been reading the Passporters Guide and figured out that our dinner rotation will probably be .. PLAPPLAPP So we should be in AP for the FORMAL night... is that a good night?
We are celebrating a few milestones this cruise and I am not sure what night they set them to be.

Any excurions ideas yet???

Thanks for reading

Reenie

Anyone else want to share where they are staying pre night. I am listing the hotel after your name on page 1.

Joanna

We're staying at the Radisson Friday night. Not sure what time when we're going to get there; depends on what we do the days preceeding.

Three Circles - you must have missed our info in a previous post. Please add to your web page.

Karel, Rich, Chris - 13, Kyle -12 and Katie -10 from New Jersey. This is our second Disney cruise. Our cabins are on the second deck but I can't think of the room numbers right now.

I'm trying to find some codes to stay at WDW two nights before the cruise. I'm going to look at Vero Beach too; that might be an option.

Karel and Reenie...I listed where you are staying pre night on page 1 of this thread for quick reference.

Joanna

By the way...I am almost totally done with the pre arranging.

Bought my cruise insurance form www.accessamerica.com/aaa (Thanks Terry)

Rebooked my SW airline tix this morning. They went down to $74 on our southbound flight and used our 2 free tickets for 4 one ways for the way home. So now I have to change my excel sheet.(Thanks Terry for the excel sheet)

Think all I have to do now is decide whether we are going to use a rent a car OR a stretch limo.

Oh decisions, decisions LOL

How is everyone else doing? Are you all done?

Joanna

Hi everyone :wave2:

Ginny: My sons don't mind dressing up, they're used to it because they wear their suits 3 times a week, every week. We're Jehovah's Witnesses and they wear their suits to all our meetings. They're comfortable wearing a suit because they wear one so often. Otherwise, I'm sure they wouldn't be thrilled at the idea of wearing a suit while on vacation. LOL

Jason: I'm glad your pics came out nice, and I'm really looking forward to having the formal pictures taken of my family. I hope we get at least a few good ones that I can frame for our livingroom. :)

Reenie: I keep looking over the list of excursions and we still haven't made any definite decisions yet. All along we've been saying that we're definitely doing the Tulum ruins excursion, but now I have my husband at least considering doing the Cozumel Jeep Safari tour instead. I would *love* to see the ruins in Tulum, but I think the Jeep tour would be a lot more fun for the boys. I wish we could do both!

Joanna: You're really checking off a lot on your list now! :sunny: I'm glad you were able to use the info about travel insurance. I think it's a great deal because they include kids for free. :)

As for me, I guess the only decisions or plans left are going to be which excursions we'll do. I've made our spa and Palo reservations already (via REAS package), ordered DSs' passports, and have our limos booked. I can't think of anything else. Just hope I'm not forgetting anything! :hyper:

Im almost all done:

Have pre and post cruise car reservations
Pre and Post cruise hotel ressies
Dinner ressie at Tchoup Tchoup
Disney, Seaworld and Universal passes

just need to by travel insurance and make my PS reservations at the 90 day mark and then pick my seats on the flights

Ginny

I'm pretty much done too.

I've got my air down and back
my car for the time we're in Flordia
my DVC reservations for the week before
my Radisson reservation
our cruise is paid for via DVC points so there is no bill coming
we're not doing any excersions so i don't have to deal with that
the only thing really left up in the air is the transportation from the port back to the airport. We've pretty much decided to use Disney transfers, even though it's a few more $$$, it's worth it to us to be 100% stress free; just off the plane, into the bus, and @ the airport.

I think we're all set too! Although, we really don't have much to arrange besides the whole packing thing. And if you know me at all we all know where that's headed...

Karel--

If you'll just send me an e-mail with any information you would like to include on the site (including your Dis name somewhere in the e-mail) I'll make sure it gets posted!

Were getting closer to single digits in the countdown. My sister calls me about 5 times a day to find out if I've heard anymore tidbits about the cruise.
Anyone else on deck 6??? I have heard about deck 2 and 7 guests....
but no one on Deck 6. My sosn is so happy to be over Oceaneers LAB...

Thanks
Reenie

Reenie--

You should tell your sister about the Dis boards and have her join us on the Disney Magic August 28th Cruise thread! ::yes::

We were on deck 6, midship, port side last week. It was a nice spot actually. For the Back-to-Backs we'll be on deck 7, our usual.

Well, it looks like school is starting the day after Labor Day for all our children's schools, so we will be headed home that Saturday.

Boo - Hoo !:(

Still trying to decide what to do before hand. Maybe we'll stop in Charleston or Savannah. Always wanted to go there.

Hoping Disney comes out with a room only code.

We probably will not do any formal excursions.

I'm cleaning off the spare bed so I can start packing. Might as well start organizing the dressy stuff and the odds and ends.

Karel - we just got our school calendar for next year and my kids also start on the 7th. Were not coming home til the 6th so I better get my stuff all together before we leave. I was a bit surprised this current year we started the thursday after labor day.

Where in south jersey do you live. Im in Burlington Township.

Ginny

I live in Gloucester County near Deptford and Woodbury. I think because Labor Day is so late this year, the schools are starting early. We also started Thursday this year, which was odd, because my entire life school has always started the Wednesday after Labor Day.

Both of our schools - elementary and our middle school - are starting big construction projects. I won't be surprised if we don't start on time. I also work as an aide at the elementary school so I'm hoping they are not expecting me in before Labor Day!

I have the cruise book, ressises for the week before, airfare. Still have alot of loose ends, need a car for the week prior to the cruise(so far have not found a good deal!) We also need a car and hotel for the night the cruise gets in. I need to go get Birth Certificates for all Five of us, and I still need to get Park passes
for the week prior. I am sure it will all come together...I guess the real important pieces are in place.
