August 28, 2004 "LOST AT SEA" Cruise

I just wanted to mention that my BIL is giving up one of his SPR's. He had two booked but one of his family members has decided not to come so he really only needs one. SOOOOO one will be coming available soon if anyone is interested. I think he will dropping it in the next couple of weeks, before the deadline at the very least.:earsboy:

Completely sympathize about the family of 5 - we are a family of 5 too and have decided to try the cruise first alone just DH and I. Mostly because it is our anniversary and we LOVE Disney so what better way to celebrate??? But also because after checking the rates for the 5 of us to cruise, we need to make sure the cruise is compatible with our children! Namely our 3 year old who has some developmental delays and severe language delays - we need to make sure he will enjoy this and not be terrified. So I am not looking to fork over that much money for category 4 or above until I know it will be worth it for them! :)

Glad to hear everyone's plans for the cruise are progressing. It's getting closer! :bounce:

OH NO You are going to let strangers be our neighbors!!!!

I would LOVE to switch with him and take the the 2 connectors (for the sake of having 2 bathrooms), but I know if I tell DH about it he will say if it doesn't have a verandah don't talk to me about it. Caren...We are also doing Mr. Sanchos. I know there will be kids there as Carol went already.

Karel, Glad you figured out why you didn't see the numbers (Bet you'll never post a problem on here again LOL Just kidding)
Let us know how you make out with the other room.

Terry...Where are you? This board finally gets hopping and you have a life and are missing it all.

Talk to you all later

I'm here! :wave2:

Just been busy with a few things, and my sister and BIL are coming up for the weekend from NJ :sunny: so I've been doing extra yard work, too. They come up to visit every year, but usually in November, so this will be the first time they've seen my lawn green, and my flowerbeds with flowers in them. I want it all to look nice :rose: :flower2: :flower: :flower1:

I have been reading all of the posts here. It's so much fun to read about everyone's excitement about our cruise :boat: :)

I don't have much to add regarding the cruise, right now. We're all paid off, all of our reservations are made for airfare and the pre- and post- cruise hotels, and now it's just going to be a matter of deciding exactly which excursions. Our only definite so far is the Tulum ruins. When it gets closer to the 60 day mark, I'll probably be posting more about the other excursions, to get more opinions.

I've been reading the menus for the restaurants that are next to the Radisson. I wouldn't mind just bringing pizza to the pool area, but not sure what DH will want to do. The Italian/pizza place as well as the Greek restaurant, both look good :)

Leave it to Disney to make a family pay more..
::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Ok enough of that, Its paid for and we will still have a great time.
The weather here in Central NY has been great:sunny: 90+degrees the past few days. So more time out in the pool and less on line:(.

Joanna: What is SPR's??

Melanie: I hope we can make the cruise more enjoyable even though your will be childless on board. It may be well deserved break.. i bet they will miss you.
My Hubbie and I cruised a yr ago August,, and I thought of my kids daily and thinking how much they would have been enjoyng it as well... So this time, they are coming with us.

Reenie...SPR are Secret Porthole Rooms. They are category 10 rooms on deck 5 that have portholes, but are classified as category 10 inside staterooms because of the obstruction.

Thanks for the explanation... What would I do with out you guys to keep me on track..

We ate at the restaurant next door to the Radisson. We ordered some pizza and some appetizers. The food was good. As far as the Radisson's food , BLAH !!!

Mr. Sanchos is basically a beach. Our kids were happy just playing in the water and building sand castles. They had the big trampoline in the water too - I do know someone that went in February though and said the trampoline was not there. So who knows with that. They also have a small built in pool so the kids were going back and forth between the pool and the water. The pool is not that far from the water. We could have our eyes on them either way. The pool was only 3 ft deep throughout. It was kind of like a big jacuzzi without all the jets. I loved having the live music right there too!

Reenie: I know we will miss the kids terribly... especially since this will be our first time away from them for more than one or two nights. Yes, you are right - a WELL DESERVED break, but it will be hard not to think of them constantly! :) I know we will do our best to enjoy it without them :teeth: We are hitting Disney World with them for a few days in July anyway so they will see Mickey too! :earsboy:

Any more progress on the DISmeet suggestions, anyone???

Melanie

Melanie--

Pertaining to the Dis Meet, here are the suggestions we have so far:

1. The Promenade Lounge just after the lifeboat drill

It may be a hard decision to make! :hyper:

I just read a post that AAA is now giving $75-$150 on board credit for booking with AAA as well as the soda mugs.

I did not book with AAA and I called them to see what the cost of it would be to transfer the reservations. Not a problem and no extra cost. So I still get my great deal from DCL back in October plus all the AAA extras...

"Beginning June 12 on the Disney Magic® and June 13 on the Disney Wonder®, AAA/CAA Travel will receive a new member benefit. Clients who purchase a Disney Cruise will receive an onboard
credit good toward merchandise, spa treatments, shore excursions and other onboard activities. This
benefit replaces the complimentary soda program, which will now be available to all Guests at the
24-hour beverage station on Deck 9 Aft and during meal hours at Topsider Buffet/Beach Blanket Buffet.
Complimentary sodas will also be available on Castaway Cay at Cookie’s Bar-B-Q and the adult-only
beach, Serenity Bay. Sodas will remain complimentary in full-service dining rooms.

The following AAA/CAA exclusive member benefits still apply:
• 10 percent discount on merchandise onboard at Treasure Ketch with a minimum of $75 purchase
• 10 percent discount on snorkeling, bicycle and .oat rentals at Castaway Cay
• AAA Vacations® Diamond Card privileges and access to the AAA VIP Lounge located in
Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom® Park (one visit per party) when Theme Park admission
is included in a 7-Night Land & Sea Package.
*Any unused portions are non-refundable and non-transferable. Onboard credit is combinable with other
onboard credits. Onboard credit amounts shown in U.S. dollars.

Itinerary Stateroom Onboard Credit*
3 or 4-night cruise Categories 10-12 (Inside) $ 25 per stateroom
3 or 4-night cruise Categories 1-9 (Outside) $ 50 per stateroom
7-night cruise Categories 10-12 (Inside) $ 75 per stateroom
7-night cruise Categories 1-9 (Outside) $150 per stateroom

So now,I can fill my cooler with um , more,,lol um,, WINE, CORONA, instead of all the PEPSI I was planning..Coke is ok, but PEPSI is my choice.

Hope this helps you guys!!!:wave2: Doreen

Thanks for the info Doreen. And I have to say, your use of colors in your posts is always a welcomed touch! ::yes::

The AAA credit would be a nice addition to the cruise but I'm a bit hesitant about their statement that "Onboard credit is combinable with other onboard credits." I already have a $200 onboard credit for the Aug. 28th cruise and a $400 onboard credit for the Sep. 4 cruise. I want to take NO chances in loosing those and I know that Disney has strictly enforced their "only one stateroom credit" per person, per cruise rule.

Perhaps I'll call just to see. Thanks again for the info!

Jason:

I know what you are talking about. I lost my on board credit of $200 when I switched to All Seasons Travel. But I can't complain because All Seasons was a lot cheaper than DCL.

Reenieny18:

I just sent you a PM. Sorry it took so long.
I wish I could switch to AAA but I think it would cost me more money to go from All Seasons to AAA.

Lyn

Hi everyone :wave2:

Jason, did you get the new pictures I emailed this morning? I'm not sure what sizes they are, you might have to shrink them. Thanks again for changing our picture. I want people to see what we look like now, so we can be recognised. :magnify: The pictures were taken within the last 6 months, and DSs have grown even in that time frame, but still look pretty much the same. The picture of DH and I looks exactly like what we look now, including my new glasses.

Regarding the new soda policy: I'm not sure if we should still get the soda stickers for DSs or not. The soda will supposedly be free at Topsiders, and at the Deck 9 beverage station, but not at the bars or anyplace else. I want them to be able to get a soda while they're at The Stack, and anyplace else on the ship. I wonder if it will be free there or not :confused3 I'm going to wait and hear how some of the teens on the cruises prior to ours have been able to get sodas, before I decide about the soda stickers.

Hi Terry--

I did get the pics and they look like they should be fine for the site. I'll try to get them up tonight.

I heard someone post on one of the other threads that they won't be offering the soda stickers anymore at all. Or was it that they won't be offering the mugs anymore? Change is confusing!

I would think that they would sell those mugs now more than ever. With the Beverage Station offering soda now too, people would probably buy the mugs for their soda and other drinks. They could sell 'em for $8.00 or whatever and probably make a lot of money.

Lyn...I'm assuming for you to give All Seas your ressie, they beat your price by more than $200. I remember that thread, that DCL wouldn't give the $200 credit if you booked with All Seas because they are a Disney wholesaler.

Reenie...Thanks for the info about the "free" soda.

Off to another Board of Ed meeting.

Joanna

I just called DCL the sales rep I spoke to checked with a supervisor and said the on board credit of $200 I got for rebooking while on my last cruise IS combinable with the $75 from AAA. Thats great!!!

Ginny
