Hi Karin

My family will be joining you on this adventure!

We booked today and decided to go with this cruise as the 26th is our son's 7th birthday. It will be me (Jen), my husband (Erik), our daughter (Emma, age 8.5y) and son (Simon, turning 7 on Aug 26th). We would love to participate in a fish extender exchange.

I am SO happy there will be some other DISers on the cruise! It's great that you picked a cruise that sets sail on your son's birthday!
:thumbsup2 for the fish extender exchange! :goodvibes

Thanks! This is our first Disney cruise and we are looking forward to it. The kids have never cruised before so it will be a new experience for them.

I'm counting down the days!

I am so sorry it took me so long to reply, but the last few days were really hectic (lots of testbooks to go through and mark) and Tom was ill.
You are going to LOVE a cruise on the Wonder! This is only our second cruise ever and it took us a long time to decide IF we wanted to do a cruise in the first place. But we are HOOKED! We booked our second cruise while we were still on board and have since changed it to back to back cruises Aug 26 and Aug 29, :lmao:

If you want to see/read a bit of our experience, I have done a food review of the 4 day cruise we went on and the link is in my signature (the Pixie Dust one) and there is even more info and photos in my trip report, which is on my homepage.

There is so much to see and do on the Wonder. I hope that a few more DISer will be on the cruise so we can do a real cool Fish Extender exchange. That was real good fun last year!

Oh, and I got your PM and checked my cruise, unfortunately mine is still the same price, but I will check it ever so often! ;)

Have a magical weekend! Karin

Hi,

I am sailing with my 13 year old dd and still thinking about booking the 29th too. Not sure because it may be too close to schools opening day. We need time to shop and get ready for school.

Can't wait for the warmer weather!

Welcome!!! I'm glad you are joining us! It will be a lot of fun! I'm jealous of your back-to-back cruises. I wish we could join you. We'll be at WDW (BCR) and the Nick Hotel prior to embarking. I feel a little guilty about the kids missing that much school. Not too guilty though :rolleyes1

Looking forward to our exchanges!

Thanks for the link, Karin - I'll definitely check that out. Be sure to watch the price. I was surprised when it changed on us.

We are using this cruise to check our sea legs. The last time my husband and I cruised, I was sea sick all 7 long nights. We hope the kids do better. If so, we are planning on rebooking on the ship. My fingers are crossed! We are hitting WDW (and then the Nick hotel) before the cruise. I hope the kids aren't too tired to enjoy the ship.

The kids still don't know about the cruise. I think they Easter bunny is going to leave clues in plastic eggs for them to decode. They know about our land adventures but will be really excited about the cruise! It's been hard to keep it a secret :)

I was really worried about getting seasick too! I never ever experienced anything :goodvibes but Tom got "landsick" once we got back on dry land! :rotfl2:
We did rebook on board too! I changed that about 5 days later to the back to back and they still gave me the discount and onboard credit! Yeah!:cloud9: And we will be there before and after the cruise as well. We usually stay for 4 weeks and this time we lucked out on getting OKW + free dining before and after the cruise.
Maybe we can get together before the cruise as well, so we all know each other before we hit the Wonder.
Do you know what stateroom you'll be in? We are in 7058 for both cruises, same stateroom as last year!
It's going to be such a surprise for your kids! Please let us all know how they react when they find out! This is going to be awesome!

Here is some of the things we found in our fish-extender last summer - boy this was fun!

And a photo of the Wonder, so we won't forget what we are in for! (not that we would forget :lmao:)

Thanks for the pix -can't wait for the real thing!!!

Oooh, 4 weeks would be wonderful! Unfortunately, the kids would be bounced out of school if they missed that many days in a row. Even at 10 days, I will receive a letter from the principal. :rolleyes1 We just spread out our trips. We've been going every 6mo for the past few years. We were at DL a few weeks ago. We haven't been to WDW since Oct and we're eager to return. That's when we had free dining - you can't beat that!!! This is our first time at the BCR. We're anxious to check out the pool :)

We don't have our stateroom assignment yet. I'll let you know when it shows up. I'm curious to see where we are placed. Fingers are crossed!

I guess we are lucky, as our schools only start mid September here in Upper Austria, so we can enjoy Florida when the crowds at WDW start to die down and we can go to MNSSHP.
Oh, how I wish to go back to Disneyland! :cloud9: We did a coast to coast in 2006 - 6 weeks travelling and LOVED it!!!!!!! We spent over a week in Disneyland and had so much fun.

But for the last few years we have been taking trips to WDW in February (half term - only one week) and August September, with a few visits to DLRP in between.

You are going to LOVE Stormalong Bay! It is the BEST hotel pool ever! Lucky you!

Hope you had a magical weekend - we turned our clocks forward this morning and that means they "stole" an hour of sleep! :scared1:  :lmao: But we did have fun nonetheless, celebrating Tom's birthday! :)

Please wish Tom a Happy Birthday from us!!! I hope he enjoyed his weekend! :flower3:

We went to the Halloween party for the first time last year. We loved it! We enjoyed it better than the Christmas party - however, the kids LOVED seeing Santa at Disney! That was a magical moment. We did that on Emma's 6th birthday so she was really excited to spend her bday at that party. :)

My husband has an annual convention in LA so we've been tagging along and hanging out with our mouse friend. We have stayed at the Grand Californian so we can easily go to/from the parks during the day while he is in his meetings. I like that it has bunk beds for the kids. I don't think the BCR has them. I need to call and inquire about our room there, too.

How long does it take for you to get to DLRP? I wish we were closer to a Disney property. My sister is a few hours away from WDW and pops over to the parks routinely.

Last year was our first Halloween Party too! We went to the first two that were offered - I LOVE their hard ticketed party events - so much fun. On our "once in a lifetime" Christmas trip (had to take unpaid leave!) we went to three Christmas Party :rotfl: and we even went to some of the Pirate and Princess Parties they offered a few years ago - anything with the word party and Disney and I love it! ;)

Wow! Staying at the Grand Californian! I wish we could, LOL, too expensive for me! We stayed in a good neighbour hotel across the street, unbeatable rate for a family suite.

Going to DLRP - would be at least a 15 hour drive, but we usually fly - we can't get any nonstop flights from our home town, so depending on the stopover it takes between 4 and 5 hours - the actual flight being 2.5 hours. We usually hold an AP for DLRP as they give you 20% off of ANY merchandise and a 10% discount on ANY food (CS and TS) purchased in the parks, hotels and Disney Village - it easily pays for itself in no time :lmao:!

Did you make all your ADRs for your trip yet? It is so much easier now at 180+10 instead of the 90 days it used to be last year! ;)

I really hope they bring back the Pirate/Princess party. This is the first year my kids would really enjoy it. I keep checking and hoping they add it! pirate: My son and husband did the Pirate League in Oct before the Halloween party. The kids also did the pirate cruise out of Port Orleans that same morning. The Pirate/Princess party would be the icing on the cake.

We were able to get a really, really good deal at the Grand Californian. Otherwise we wouldn't have booked there. It just worked out well since I was by myself with the kids during the day. We went back and forth to our room numerous times.

Wow, that's wonderful about your AP discounts! Every little bit helps!

I've only made a few ADRs. We're contemplating spending a few days at the water parks so I don't want to have ADRs those days. Normally I would have booked them the minute our window opened. It feels strange not having them done.

Do you have favorite restaurants you visit a lot?

Welcome abord!! :flower3: It's nice to see that our cruise group is growing!

We are booked on the 4 night cruise on the 29th as well. This is only our second (third) cruise and we fell in love with it right away! ;)

We won't be booking the 29th. I just booked my airfare and that was expensive! I am not staying in Disney at all this year. We have a busy summer and can't fit it in. booo

The weather has been wacky here in New York lately, one day 90 and the next 40.

Looking forward to our exchanges!

We are staying over night at the Airport hotel. We got a really late flight out and won't be getting to Orlando until Midnight. Other wise I would have had to take a late a.m. flight out on day of embarkation. That would have been bad if there were any flight delays.

I may also have two of my older daughters joining us on this cruise. Not sure yet. If so, one is 24 and the other 18. I know for sure my 13 year old is coming with me.
