August 25, 2012 Magic in NYC!!!!

Hi
I am new to Disboards. This is my 4 th Disney cruise and I would love to join your fish extender group. We are from Pennsylvania about 1.5 hours from NYC. Could someone please tell me how to sign up? It looks like great fun.

For anyone interested in magnet mickey ears for their cabin door, I've just found the coolest Statue of Liberty Mickey ears. You can find the template for the magnets at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2172891
One of our fellow Disers has been so kind enough to offer us this service.
Brenda

:rotfl: I also have a 10 year old son (who will be 11 by the cruise), also a 10 year old daughter

Great! My 11yo DS and almost 9yo DD will be thrilled that there will be kids their age to play with in the clubs.:)

Welcome to the Disboards!:welcome:

Just got an email from DCL saying that 1st bus to Disney on Aug. 30th is 7:30am...who's gonna be on that one?? Not us!!!! Last bus back to boat is around 11pm...might be on that one... :cool1::yay:

That would be me on the 7:30 bus...if possible!!! LOL!!! We cant sign up until 5/27 so fingers are crossed for an early time.

So excited to get that e-mail, but still have to wait until 5/27 to actually "book" the excursion! We're morning people, we'll be on an early bus if we can get it, but I don't know if we can make it to 11 PM (although there are two restful days at sea afterwards, so maybe....)

Nice to see some action on this thread :thumbsup2

I hope they have more than one bus at 7:30 for each park. I don't care if I am on the very first bus, just as long as I can get to Epcot for park opening or pretty close to it.

7:30,8:30,9:30,10:30...subject to change of course...

Of course.

If WDW sticks with the same August schedule, MK has early opening (not that it matters for us, opens at 8, our first shuttle is at 7:30, 70 minute ride...).

Otherwise, all the parks open at 9. AK closes at 6. Epcot 9 (fireworks at 9). MK & DHS 10 (fireworks at 10, Fantasmic at 10).

I wonder if the buses back are on the hour, and if the only 11 is from MK?

So, who's making dining reservations for that day? I figure with all the food we'll be eating on the boat, we'll be eating QS.

Yea - finally some action on this board. DH called our concierge about that email and found out that it probably shouldn't have gone out yet. There's nothing we can do about booking it at this point.

We're not usually early birds but whole knows...things could change...I know my kids want to go to Epcot, not sure if we'll hop from there.

I have the 180 days tabbed in my calendar so I can make dining reservations for Epcot, some restaurants are crazy busy, especially before Labour Day.

We'll be there on the first bus too! Travelling with my Dad who is up at 6am each day with the smoking crew on deck 9 :). I was seriously thinking of just hiring a car to avoid the buses although they are free...maybe just for the return, trying to get tix to the Phantasmic dessert seating...

I see most people so far on the board are from closer to NYC then us (Ottawa Canada) but I was considering the train as the way to go, albeit 10 hours with a 6 year old...

Otherwise we would drive, does anyone have experience with the parking at the port in Manhattan? Reading the website it looks like first come first serve and that seems a big risk...

Sorry - no advice there - although we're about an hour away, we're probably going to take a car service back and forth - probably a bit more expensive then parking but then no worries about anything happening to the car in NYC for 8 days.

We are not sure yet how we are going to get to the port. We are in Southern MA, and was originally thinking of taking the train out of Providence, but the train times we were looking at do not have checked luggage and for an 8 day cruise not sure I really want to be dragging and find space for all the luggage. We might also do the bus, a little longer, but also less expensive and they have checked luggage. Not sure if we would do it the same day or go the night before, peace of mind says go the night before, but wallet says go same day to save on hotel.

Our WDW day is 8/30/12 and the 180 day mark for booking TS is 3/3/12. We haven't decided yet if we want to take the time out of our touring day to eat at a TS, but I would love to know when and if the new places in Fantasyland are opening.

We just started thinking about where we want to spend our day, which would determine our dining plans. DH has already said he would love to go to one of our must-do's that day-- Ohana dinner, CP breakfast, or HDDR.

Starting to get excited and my ticker is now noticably past the half way point.

Sailed out of NY on NCL last February and didn't have any issues with parking..got to pier a few hours in advance. It's sooooo convenient to park at the pier!!!! You have to pay when you arrive and I think it's $30/night..
