I would assume that there is no guarantee of when the cruise will be scheduled, but I'm thinking generally they will be during "off peak" times for DCL - like hurricane season. We also cruised back in mid-August 2011 and that was rescheduled from August 2009 when the trip we would have been on was changed from an eastern to a western itinerary based on tropical weather. I would just say that if booking a cruise during hurricane season that one needs to be flexible and expect the unexpected!
In comparison to other cruises I would say there were less kids, but the only way I was actually able to gauge that was the smaller crowds on the family beach. Many of the trip reports posted on the FB page talked about big crowds at Serenity Bay, too.

We ALWAYS purchase travel insurance anyway...would have to make sure that the travel provisions for weather are applicable...too many unexpected things happen!
