August 22nd 2009 Western Carribbean Anyone?

I have so much catching up to do, I don't even know where to start!

I guess I'll just jump in.....
Brian, I'm sorry to hear about your balcony and your job. If I could figure out how to post a photo, I'd put up a beautiful one of Deck 4. It is so relaxing and beautiful with it's padded teak loungers and nice sea breeze. That could be your balcony. If you google Disney cruise deck 4, you will find plenty of pictures (some are of the Wonder, but it's exactly the same).

To all of the 20th anniversaries, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :cheer2: We celebrated our 19th this year (that's why we took the trip to Bermuda to practice for our 20th)

As for the Disney suite party, we are totally in!!! Thank you for inviting us! What can I bring? I am really excited to see it!!

Heather, you must be getting excited!! Not too long now. I'm excited for you. I hope this beautiful weather holds on for you.

Wayne, I love your door decorations. What a lot of work you've put in!! I haven't started mine yet, but you certainly are inspiring. Where did you find the captain mickey hat? Did you design it yourself? Have you ever had any of your decorations taken?

As for formal night, yes we are!! I'm not sure if my DH will bring his tux or a suit and tie. My DS will be in a suit and tie too (at least through dinner). I have to say, I have sailed Disney and RCCL and I do enjoy formal night on Disney more. I think the ship is so classically elegant that it is special to be formal one of the nights. I definitely think to each his own ~ it's your vacation!

FE gifts, yes we put a little to/from label on it. We didn't the first time and did the second time. I have found that the kids really like thanking the other kids and talking about the gifts. So, I'm sticking with the tags.

We are driving to the port, so we are actually leaving Wednesday the 19th and spending Thurs and Fri night at the Radisson. I know some other families will be there too. We will be spending the day at the pool on Friday. Maybe we can have a pre cruise pizza get together there.

Terri

Just wondering if you are flying or driving from NJ? Anita

Christi, when are you getting to the Radisson?

Thursday evening. We are hoping to arrive around 8pm. But it depends on how many stops we make along the way.

We are leaving Wed night after Erik gets home from work . Drivin i-75 to Logan. KY. We will stop and spend the night and finish driving on Thursday.
We have found this works better for us.

The kids want to spend Friday at the beach and swimming at the hotel.
Matt does not like swimming on the ship durning the day becasue there are so many people in the pool. He usually swims in the evening and has the pool to himself.

It would be grerat if Matt-11 and Ryan could meet before we got on the ship, so they could have a buddy in ocean quest.

Ok...my travel agent just called me and said that Disney has offered to move us up from a cat 9 to a GTY 6 for $300. My husband said go for it and so I did. I know that there is a chance that we could get a white wall veranda and we are willing to accept that. I hope I don't regret my decision. We have always had a porthole room so this is very exciting to us. I guess I have to wait to get my room number until we get our travel documents. Now, I just have to wait...:yay:

I saw your message and started writing an email to my travel agent, then I got the same message!

I HAVE A VERANDA BACK!!!!:banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2::cloud9:

After getting the layoff notice, it hurt more than I wanted to admit to step down to a cat 9 - especially since I would absolutely hate to have the two tiny portholes on deck one. I am still saving about 25% off the cat 5 I had initially booked, well over 20% off what I would have paid for a cat 6, and I am getting the veranda!

Forget work - after getting a layoff notice what more are they going to do to me? After one thing went so wonderfully right, I'll spend much of the remainder of today looking for a few more jobs to apply to!

I sincerely hope you all have as good of a day as I am having right at this moment!

trimix, Congrats to you too!!! Now we just have to wait to find out our room assignments. I am so excited I can't sit still:yay:

Hi terri, Thank you. Not much work really with the very creative Dissers, they do most the work we just have to add, change and print. Never had anything taken thankfully. Hope no-one takes anything this time.
Link here for Ear/hats just print off and they fit around the cabin number.

Sounds a great deal Tammi. Well done.

Great news Brian, so pleased for you, sounds like you really wanted the verandah:goodvibes
We were upgraded to Cat 6 free on our 1st cruise but we only used it for 10 mins the whole cruise so we would never pay for a verandah but won't say no if they want to give us another free:thumbsup2

Completed FE today, name patches arrived from US(cheaper than UK) on Monday. Also printed off some name tags I am going to put a pin on and wear for the meet, one for each of us with our name and DIS name underneath.:)

Thank you, Tammi.

It may be 38 days until our cruise, but it's only 30 days until we leave for Florida. I think these will be the slowest 30 days of my life!

Hi Bev
I hope you look forward to meeting her and not eating her, there will be enough food onboard for you :lmao:
Whoops !!!! didn't have my glasses on. Karen you are safe,we only eat cake....burgers.......icecream.......chocolate......etc etc!!!!!!!!!.
Bev:flower3:

Wayne - love your FE!!!

Congrats on the room upgrades - DH would love a veranda - I would love it for free!!

We are arriving on Thursday evening as well. I would love to be there in time to see the Wonder sail, but that will depend on what time we get on the road on Wednesday (after Jack gets home from work, too) and how far down 95 we get that night. I think it might be too ambitious!

I know Ryan would love to meet Matt ahead of time. He always seems to make plenty of friends, but he is a little shy at first, so knowing someone going in would be great!

Wayne and Maza, we won't be in room 2632. We're upgraded and we'll be getting our room assignment when we get our documents. I'll post it when I receive it.

Thanks,
Tammi

I would love to be there in time to see the Wonder sail,

We drove the last time, and arrived in time on Thursday to see the Wonder in port. After all the planning, driving and excitement, when I saw it, I cried! I wish we could drive again, but we are literally squeezing in a vacation this year, so our time was limited.

Congrats to everyone who got the verandah upgrades! We'll miss you in steerage. I was tempted to contact my TA, but then I started thinking that $300 will cover our excursion, our two trips to Palo, and a few drinks of the day. However, I believe I echo I few others here by saying that if DCL would like to offer it for free, I would not say no. ::yes::

In other news, I bought a bathing suit the other day, and it wasn't as bad as I thought! Still, I've managed to stay on my diet for 3 1/2 days now! I'm pretty much just trying to lose what I know I'll gain on board.

Oh, and Maria, 5 inch red stilettos? You're my hero!:thumbsup2 I trip and fall over in flats (and that's stone cold sober on dry land).

Wayne - Nice F.E.

Denise - That is your problem, sober and dry land. It is the people who have had a few that can walk straight on the ship. Watch for it when you are moving through the halls. ...I may have borrowed that from, oh, every comedian and social host on every cruise I have ever been on.
