Loaded our 5 day tickets into the Disneyland app and made our park reservations this morning. Due to a paid summer internship that DD17 is doing, we had to push our early June vacation to early August. We're flying out the morning of August 1st and staying through the afternoon of August 6th. Excited to fly into and out of SNA for a change. The cost was fairly negligible since we used American points. We're flying out pretty early and should arrive by 9am PT. We're thinking we'll drop our bags off at the Courtyard Front Entrance since they can hold bags and then take a Lyft to Knott's Berry Farms as the kids have always wanted to do that.

Plan is 4 full days and 1 half day before our late afternoon flight out. DLR, DLR, CA, DLR, DLR. We have park hoppers so I'm not as worried about California Adventure. We usually start the 2nd day at CA but I don't want to pass up a Sunday morning at DLR. I had the idea to spend half the day with one kid going with one parent and then we switch at midday. I do this at Six Flags since one kid usually brings a friend, leaving me with the other. Felt like it would be a fun thing to do at DLR. My wife and I will spend the 3rd DLR day just going slow while we send DD17 & DD14 off with all our Genie+ selections. We did this 2 summers ago and it was very enjoyable. We do things the kids might find boring like riding the train and Main Street vehicles, having a slow breakfast (might do Carnation Cafe this time), and just taking some time for ourselves. Final day will just be hitting up our favorites before knocking off around 1-2 to grab our bags and head to the airport.

Very excited to be there during the 70th and for Paint the Night's return. Paint the Night was the nighttime parade when we first took them to DLR in 2016 during the 60th anniversary.

We’ll be there during the same time, our trip is Aug 2-13. We’re combing it with a few days in LA.

We’ll be doing 3 days in the Disney parks, 2 days at universal, full day LA tour, baseball games at Angels and Dodger stadiums. A couple other LA sights like the tar pits and academy museum. If we don’t spend the full time at universal (tickets came with a free day), we’ll add on some LA stops. Have a couple built in days for pool time and low-key activities so it’s more restful than our past trips to WDW.

Flying into LAX. Planned on not doing that but we saved $1400 on the flights plus significant time (no layover, other flights were spendy and much longer), so we’ll struggle through it.

Not sure if you are interested or if you will have time, but Sofi Stadium has a great tour.

Sounds like a great vacation. If I can make a suggestion, try to add in a tour of the Warner Bros Studio. It's really fun, especially if you're a fan of any of the shows or movies that have been shot there. We still get tickled when we recognize a set or street from the tour in a TV or movie we watch. It's just north of Universal Studios. Love Dodger Stadium.

We will also be there early August! DLH 8/7-11 after five days in San Diego visiting family. I’m so excited and trying hard not to wish time would fly by!!! DH and I went last summer for day trip while in SoCal and did as much as we could. So looking forward to taking it all in at a slower pace with our kiddos, DD9 and DS6. I know they are going to love it!

For those going in August did you buy the 70th ticket deal tickets? I'm waiting to buy until I have saved up more gift card money but worried this offer may sell out. Does that happen?

We booked through Getaway Today as they have a great deal on the Courtyard Front Entrance that we usually stay at. This was before the 70th ticket deal came in but we got Adult tickets at kid prices so I think it's pretty close in price.

Joining, just booked flights for August 21-25 to take advantage of a promotional SW companion pass. Flying into SNA. We haven't been to DL since 2013, and we haven't been on a vacation just DH and I since our honeymoon in 1996.

We'll be able to do 3.5 park days. Probably will stay at Park Vue Inn like last time, or may look at the one next door to it. Really liked the perfect location there.

Time to study up on DL again!

Posting here about HM in case it's helpful for anyone, as I saw this thread pop up and I just posted in the July thread.

For HM, it historically takes 3 weeks to install the overlay (or 18 days starting on a Monday opening on a Friday).

The first OBB is 8/17 in DCA and the start of Halloweentime is August 22nd. Assuming they want it ready for 8/22, not 8/17 (since OBB is not in DL), then I would expect HM to close on Monday, August 4th and re-open on Friday, August 22nd.

Yeah, I see OBB starts our weekend :headache:. It's not something we'll be attending, so I am thinking about whether to do park hoppers or just do CA on the non-party days (22nd & 23rd) and DL on the 21st and 24th.

This is helpful. I may have to flip my trip. I was going to fly into LAX and do a Universal Day and some Hollywood sights the first 2 days, and then do Disneyland. Haunted Mansion is my family's favorite; I don't want to miss the original. So maybe we need to start in DL and do Universal a couple of days before we fly home.

If you are going to flip your trip, you might see if there any return flights out of Burbank Airport.
