August 2021 vs. August 2022

So I read all over the place that August of this year was walk-on for almost everything; especially towards the end of the month.

Do you think August 2022 will be the same?

I think August 2021 was extra slow because people were waiting for the 50th to start so if they had the choice to go in August or during the 50th, they waited the extra 2 months or whatever. But August 2022 will be within the 50th celebration...

So do you think the end of August 2022 will be as quiet as the end of August 2021 was? :)

I recall that for late September but I didn't recall that for August (but I may have missed it). Regardless, no - I think Aug '22 will be fairly busier because far more people will have vaccinations and travel restrictions lessened. But as we all know, these things aren't linear - so, who knows what's around the corner. How much will inflation hurt things (vs. people feeling like maybe they had extra funds following stimulus payments)? Will there be an unpredicted variant that pops up or some global unrest? Who knows. But based off of general predictability, I think things will continue to pick up (crowd-wise).

We have traveled the last week of August every year for the last 15 years. It is always a slower week to travel that’s why we love it, but the last two August trips were very slow most every ride a walk on or for top attractions 15-20 min waits max. We attributed this mainly to COVID though. Some may have been due to the 50th but I don’t think that much. Most kids are back in school by mid to late August so that time of year is slower by default.

Like the other posters have said, last August was very slow because of the huge covid surge, there were lots of cancellations. I remember reading about them here because we were going the last 2 weeks & I was curious if people were hesitant to go. I do think people also put off trips for the 50th, but I don’t think that effected numbers as much as covid. It’s also hot as hades in August & in the throes of hurricane season, that tends to make people think twice about that time of year. Still, we do make one of our trips every year at that time due to school. This past August was actually slower, in our opinion, than the previous August- which was just a little after Disney reopened. I’m thinking August 2022 will be closer to normal, we already have our reservations!

We always go in August. The only exception was August 2020 when our state had a travel ban to FL.
It's generally a slower time to go, but 2021 was really low crowds, more than usual. When we went to Blizzard Beach, it was a ghost town! Even Summit Plummet was a walk on all day!
Probably one of the biggest factors of the low crowds was the lack of International travelers. Usually, there's tour groups all over the place, but there was none of that this year, and you could see the huge difference it made.
By August 2022, assuming International travel is somewhat back to normal, I'm sure that those International tour groups will all be back...with a vengeance!
