*August 2019 check in*

You can still use your ticket to check in for fastpass but I found it was easier to use my phone so I've ditched the lanyard my last trip.

Thank you. I had purchased a SWGE lanyard for DS14 but I'll give it to him as a back-to-school gift instead so he can carry his student ID in style. (:

So. What's the current word for crowd levels at the parks? Are the hordes finally settling in over there or is it still pretty light??
Touring Plans rates it 9 out of 10, but most of that seems to concentrate on Galaxy’s Edge before 11am (at that point the rest of park is getting busier).

What ticket holder do you have? I have some little name badge holders that we were going to use but I was worried about the tickets falling out when we pull them out of our back packs. Was thinking of putting a pin on it to keep it closed.
I keep the tickets in the travel wallet, except during water rides, for which we transfer them into their own little dedicated waterproof case.

I'm leaving in 9 days!! And my first park day is in 10 days. I'm so spoiled by WDW with the magic bands and my AP. I've never (as an adult) had to activate tickets. I'll definitely head to will call on my arrival day and get everything sorted out and ready to go! I guess I will put my ticket on a lanyard and keep it in my backpack? I'm a Universal AP and everyone there carries around their AP's on a lanyard. But I wanna fit in LOL. I have maxpass and it honestly seems like I can get a lot more done with the setup at WDW.

I'm torn between running to SWGE at opening on 8/10, or if I should go enjoy the rest of the park while everyone else makes the mad dash. I have a res for Savi's at 3pm, and Oga's later around 6pm. I'll be traveling solo and I really don't mind waiting and hour+ for Smuggler's Run. I've seen an average of 50-75 min wait times throughout the day on the app. I'm just going to be REALLY excited to see GE. I'm not sure if I can hold out! Lol.

Not sure why you would think that. As for SWGE, the general consensus (currently) is that if you are a fast walker and are at the front of the pack when the line for SWGE is allowed in (either from Frontierland or Adventureland), then go for it. But if you are not at the front or can't keep up, you'll be better off doing the less crowded parts of the park first, then heading over to GE when the mass of people spreads out.

As we're getting down to the wire on our trip, I keep finding I have more questions. :)

Here's our situation:
We fly into LAX on August 7. We were planning on going to DL on August 8 because of Magic Morning and also because our bodies will still be running on EST so we'll probably be up pretty early local time. However, crowd calendars are estimating that day to be 7/10 in the parks, while they have August 9 (a Friday) at a 3/10 for DL. I'm considering switching our plans for August 8 to August 9 because of this (even though we'll lose the Magic Morning hour). Looking for opinions on:

1. Why the big difference in crowd estimates? Is it because of Magic Morning on 8/8? I was surprised to see a Friday estimated to be more than half busy than a Thursday. Any theories?
2. Would you personally prefer using Magic Morning or having a lighter crowd?

Thanks!

I would stick with your plan - from what I've been hearing here and on vlogs is that the crowds are going back to normal but it still hasn't been summer crazy busy. I'm not sure I would expect to see Friday at a crowd level 3. Go in expecting it to be busy and you'll be fine.

That's funny cause I'm doing my first trip to WDW with the new fastpass system there and I'm afraid we won't get as much done as I can at Disneyland with Maxpass! I think it's just cause it's a new system ( maxpass for you, fastpass + for me) that it seems like it won't work as well.

All I can see in the picture is your fan..LOL I use a littley tiny coin purse wallet that has 2 pockets one clear for drivers license and one pocket money - both have zippers. I also bring zip lock bags with me so that when we go on water rides everything in my bag goes in a zip lock.

Oh! The weather forecast keeps getting slightly cooler for next week. I know I still need to be ready for the UV index. But cooler temps never hurt.

I saw the same thing. Hoping for low 80's. Looks like it will be cool at night too.

We fly out tomorrow morning and I have a feeling I might melt. We haven't had much of a summer this year so this will be a shock for sure..

I am totally down for highs in the mid-80s and lows in the mid to high 60s and low humidity! Our local weather for the same time period calls for lows in the high 70s and highs in the mid-to-high 90s with much higher humidity. I'll definitely be prepared with sunscreen and a hat but I am soooo looking forward to the weather in Anaheim.

I live in the fog belt near San Francisco. A hot day for us is 75 - for me Disneyland is always hot!! But I'll take 80 over 90 degree weather any day.

I can't wait for 80s and lower humidity. I'm in NYC and it's been nasty hot and horribly humid for weeks. DL weather will seem like a pleasure in comparison.

Lower 80s is what I’m hoping for when I’m there! Crossing fingers that my trip won’t fall during another heat wave, haha!

I’m considering bringing my Ravenclaw lanyard (we do the same thing at Universal for our APs - after 4 express). I really don’t like digging out passes or phones for everything.

Sorry, I phrased it wrong! I meant that it sounds like I can get more done with Maxpass, actually! I love how it is all same day. The WDW FP+ system favors those that plan their trips far out in advance. I’m local-ish (only a 3 hr drive) and I usually never book 60 days in advance. I’m so excited to try out maxpass!! I’ve been reading up on all the threads, thanks to your help :)
