August 2016 Car Rental Rate watch

THANK YOU so much!

Our 10 days in August was looking close to $350 - $400 which is insane that time of the year! I got 10 days for $130 now! I don't usually rent a car, but really want the flexibility to run off to the store this trip! Thanks!

Thank you so much for the codes!!! This saved me about $100 on my rental too! Hopefully the prices go down even more. ;)

You are both very welcome.

That code definitely helps me too! So do you book with that code and if you come across something better just cancel? Our first time renting....

I was also able to book an amazing deal with these codes. $187 total for a standard size for 10 days in August. Thank you so much! :)

Yes just cancel that one and go with the new one.

Tamara, are you an Alamo Insider? If so use Alamo coupon code AD4004JDK for $50 off a weekly rental and Alamo Insider Product Code AS1 for a great deal in August.

Thanks Ron, I appreciate your help. Looks like the rates are still over $500 with your codes. I will keep them and see if it ever comes down to under $200 a week. Thanks again !!!

Hi Ron, my husband is an Alamo Insiders member so I used those codes and got $50 off! Is there a coupon or any other documentation I will have to provide them when I pick up the car?

I don't believe so because both the coupon code and product code are Alamo's. Are you going to do the online check in? If so you will be able to bypass the counter and go immediately to the garage and pick your car out of the class you rented. Then take it to the exit with hubby's ID and the credit card you used and off you go.

Were you happy with the price you recieved?

I tried to make a reservation with that Brazil Code and it worked! Are they going to ask for any documentation when we pick up the car?

Thanks in advance to all!!

FYI regarding the $50 code... people in the April and May threads have reported issues with the $50 coupon not being honored at the time of the rental

It is being honored when the renter confronts them about it.

When would that even come up? I.e., the $50 code not being honored "at time of rental." I mean, I print out the online check in before I leave home, include my credit card info, and go right to a car. I've already paid - the person who checks me out of the garage could care less what my rate is.

(I'm not disputing that it could come up - just curious so I'm prepared!)

Maybe I'm missing something or have been lucky? Maybe that person at the garage gate who checks everything asks for Costco card/AAA/whatever sometimes? (I've never once been asked to confirm anything, and have used Costco, AAA, and Disney AP rates - I was a member of each at the time though.)

I was wondering the same thing. I've used Costco & Disney AP coupon codes too and I've checked out at both the kiosk & at the counter and I've never been asked for proof. I even offered it to the desk person and they said "nope, don't need to see it. The rate is already applied." And I always ask the person at the gate when I'm leaving if they need to see my Costco or Disney card & they always say no. I wonder.

I think on the final receipt? Check out this thread... http://www.disboards.com/threads/may-2016-car-rentals.3436288/page-17

Thank you so much for codes...I didnt use the 50 because of the possible issues but the Product code alone save us $100.00 on a 10 day rental...Thanks again

Awesome info, Thank You very much. Comparing this price to prices I've paid in past years, I think I may in fact be done early this year. :)

16 days in either a standard SUV or minivan August into September for $460. That is really good!

Scratch the above, I beat it!

I forgot to add the annual passholder ID which is 15000 (yes, I am an annual passholder) along with the alamo insider AS1 code and the $50 off code and it went to $414. Yep, I think I am done, that will be hard to beat for 16 days August into Sept. 5th.

I was also able to book a convertible for a 14 day 'alone' trip with my wife Sept into October for Food and Wine for $377. Not sure if I'll keep that one though as I have a Luxury car for $423 I booked through Costco months and months back.
