Gina there is a 25 off Alamo costco coupon and a 30 off United Airlines coupon too (you could use instead of the visa one) and use the mastercard.

Quoting myself, just rebooked same as above down to $171.28 on Alamo. First movement either way in 10 days. Hopefully it keeps going down...still high for me.

Another big drop just now. Alamo 8/16-8/24 using Insiders and Visa $30 down to $139.40 for standard/fullsize. This is much better for me, $150 is the number I try to stay under.

Hi MegaMoo. Its been discussed many times in this thread. If you use your visa to pay for the rental, you can get $30 off the total with code AD2338FDF.

As far as the costco question. If you are a member of costco, google costco travel and there are many codes available on the website for various car rental agencies as long as you have a costco membership (I have an membership and fwiw, I have been asked several times over the years to show my costco id).

There is a lot of valuable information in this thread, the most pertinant for the current rentals is in the last few pages of the thread (I know its gotten huge!).

With Alamo, by signing in as an insider, does it guarentee that you're getting the best rate code (ie - before coupons)? In other words, does the insider rate beat or match the costco, visa, and southwest codes?
I'm using a visa coupon, but to check each code, I have to clear cookies after each try.

Never say never....May 2011, I had a rate drop the night before our trip. 8 days on Alamo with fullsize for $83....the base rate was something like $20 I was sitting around $121 prior to that and couldn't believe my eyes when I checked last minute on a whim. Better yet, there were minivans on the row that night

No, the Insider rate doesn't guarantee that you will get the best rate. In my experience though, it has almost always given me the best rate when combined with a VISA coupon and it always makes me the most comfortable because I know both are completely legit and not questionable.

Just found my lowest rate for 7 days mid August:

Thrifty, intermediate size, booked through AAA website, total with all fees = $146.

That beats the $158 I have with Dollar.

I just got an unbelievable rate with Hertz (FL rates) through BJ's for a minivan 8-10 to 8-19, $229 total. I have been searching for weeks for a friend. Hope this helps someone

The previous best rate I found for a minivan from a reputable company out of TPA was over $400. This came in as $187! I'll gladly pay the $50 for a BJs membership for $213 worth of savings. (Travel 8/20 AM to 8/26 PM)

Have you tried Hertz with a BJs membership? For your dates I see $230 for a standard SUV. A BJs membership runs $50, so it would be $280 all in. I don't think BJs operates in Canada, but cheaper is cheaper.....
