QOTD: TELL US WHERE YOU'RE STAYING AND WHY YOU CHOSE YOUR RESORT!! (yes, I know it may say in the tickers, humor me)

This time we picked AoA for a few reasons:
1) It's new and cool
2)3 different beds to sleep in (we were going to stay at coronado springs but 2 queen beds are nice, but son and daughter would have to sleep together and they don't want that at their ages)
3) they have a cool pool

We used to stay at pop but we have outgrown 2 full beds (both kids and adults ). We stayed at Contemporary last time and loved it, but alas alak, we cannot afford that this round. So to get 3 beds we chose AoA and we are very happy with that choice!!!

We're staying at POP and then ROR in a royal room We haven't stayed at either of these and this will be our first split stay. Sooo excited!

We got our ME luggage tags today It makes it seem so much closer to our trip

We took advantage of the discounted room rates and are staying three days at All-Star Music resort...then we are transferring to, as others have said-- our "home away from home"--POR!!! Love the rooms, the pool, lack of crowds, easy access to busses, shuttle to DTD, food court, etc....

I have never stayed at a value resort, but I think the kids will really love the themes and the pools.

Can.Not.Wait. to be there!!!

I OFFICIALLY booked my trip!!!

We decided on August 19-25th mainly because I was having issues getting ADRs for the last week in August and none or this week AND its one week sooner. lol

Well that's because of free dining, of course! Starts the 26th. I purposely booked my trip for the week before to avoid the free dining crowds. I'm hoping that many people who were originally going to go that third week pushed their trip back to get free dining.

We were there one year when free dining started mid-trip and it was like a whole different trip once those crowds rolled in! It was MADNESS those first few days!

Would anyone be interested in making a master list of our ADRs?


I would volunteer to do it and keep it at the top of a page for easy access but I'm thinking it might be nice to see where everyone is eating and if anyone will be at the same place at the same time. We did this on a previous group I was part of a few years ago and it made for LOTS of DISmeets!

What do you guys think??

Yep that's what I figured. I definitely prefer less of a crowd. And I like having our pick of restaurants. I currently have us eating at all buffets except one night. DH and I are on Atkins but plan on going off that week so I hope we will still be able to enjoy big buffets and if not we can probably still do Atkins or at least low carb with buffets if we really wanted. I have us going to the Crystal Palace the first day and I'm way excited to see Pooh and Eeyore...DH not so much!

Meanwhile I hit Target after work tonight and I look ridiculous in those cute Mickey tops. Oh well. Guess I'm both too old and too Pooh-sized for them to be flattering. lol

I priced AoA last week and considered switching. I was so surprised that AoA was running me more! On the fri and sat of our stay AoA was $395 My kids are 4 and 6 and would love AoA but they are so excited about AkL too.

Luckily our dates are right after the price decrease / season change and we are paying $295 for fri & Sat less the VISA 15% discount. Other wise we'd be staying elsewhere!

I do not like seafood/fish. I hope their chicken is good. lol

Ods did his by himself so he was really excited!! He went a bit heavy in the spraying and dripped it but its all his work so its beautiful! Thanks for the idea. Now I just need to make my pirate Ts and vests.

Well actually free dining starts alot earlier than 8/25/12. It just depends on when you booked. UK free dining starts 8/15, Bounceback(people who booked last August) starts the 17th and Canadian free dining starts 8/19/12.

I said all that just to say that even though ADR's are more plentiful the third week, I wouldn't bank on crowds being better. Yes, alot of peolpe switched to the last week because of FD, but remember there are alot more people that couldn't do to school/work schedules. In fact there was a whole thread on the discount board with people who were upset because of the FD dates.

Anyway, don't worry even though the third week will most likely be busier than the fourth, we will still have a blast because were at Disney!
