****August, 2012!!!****

We are now waffling between August to October. My Mom and I really like the idea of the food and wine festival and my kids really want to do the Halloween party.

Have you been down in Oct? In 2010 we switched from Aug to Oct and were so glad we did-- the party is awesome and we really loved the Food and Wine Fest! Would switch again for next year, but I am back to work and can't take time off during the school year.

We are adding a day, so we are checking in on the 25th, staying at POR! Can't wait! Already planning my dining ;) Really hope they add a free dining plan for Aug!

Does anyone know about when park hours will be released for august? My family and I want to start planning our meals so that they're ready to reserve when ADRS are made available :)

I read somewhere on this site that the hours are posted about 180 days ahead of time, so I figure they will be available by March. I've been so busy with the holidays that I haven't done much planning in awhile, but after giving my son a fantastic Walt Disney World dvd for Christmas, I am totally eager to plan!

Hi everyone!

Just this last week we've booked to go to Orlando with DH's family - August 9th - 23rd. We're staying offsite in a rented villa at Windsor Hills (just outside WDW) - I've not stayed off property since 1996 so it'll be very different. In our group will be: me, DH, his Dad, Mum, younger sister, older sister, her boyfriend & his daughter!

I will be making some ADRs and planning a few days, but it won't be in as much detail as I would usually because DH's family aren't really 'Disney people' like we are. :cutie:

Looking forward to counting down to August with you all!

Emma princess: x

hello everyone! I haven't been on in a while but with the holidays behind us I am ready to focus on Disney!!

We have book a town house at Windsor Hills  With at least 6, maybe 7 going I just couldn't justify onsite when we can have all the space of a house for WAY cheaper!

We also havedecided to skip the character meals, the cost just does not seem worth it to me when we can meet all the characters in the park anyway.

I am thinking about Sci-Fi Cafe for lunch one day, it looks fun! Anyone been there? how was it?

Next up is deciding which tickets to get....and plan our long drive from Nova Scotia!!!:scared1:

New to this thread but I will be visiting WDW in August 2012! 8/18-8/25 at AoA, can't wait!!

Sci Fi is fun, but we only have done it once and don't plan on going back. The theming is the best part, IMO. The food wasn't anything amazing but it was good enough. I think it's something everyone should try once.

Well, this has been a roller coaster. Looks like the family trip that was shaping up is out - One family backed out for sure, and this will likely persuade the other to drop. So it looks like it is back to just two, which has its benefits, as we were likely to have to go in early August with everyone - now we are back to our original 17-26 dates. On the bright side, I got a PIN in the mail the other day, so it looks like I can go ahead and book without worrying about free dining. Really looking forward to starting ADR's next month - Planning Time!

mom2clr, If you are reading at all here, I am so sorry you had to cancel your trip. I have been praying for your sister and I hope that she makes a full recovery!

Just yesterday I read on EasyWDW that they usually release park hours 6 and a half months before. I know that they have already released July's park hours so we're up next on the docket! I will keep checking and post here when I see anything. I'm also playing along in the ADR meal game!

Hours usually come out more than 180 in advance, since ADR's start then. If you will be making ADR's, you'll want to do those before march, if possible. I think 180 out is Feb 19 for us (arrival date Aug 17) - I will be gearing up for initial ADR planning then. Can't wait!

Hooray! I just booked my first trip in 7 years! This is our 10th wedding anniversary, DH's birthday, and twins first trip. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside in a Royal Guest Room, August 18-25. So excited!

I plan trips for a lot of my friends, and bot do I have a lot of trips this August. I am in the middle of planning about 5 trips! I make them buy me a souvenir in exchange. It's a win-win-win situation,I love planning, I get a souvenir, and they have an amazing trip.

I haven't seen an "official August 2012" thread, so I decided to post one! We are in for a looong wait, but you can never start planning too early, RIGHT??? I am very excited for this trip because it will just be my daughter and I. The other two times we have gone, there have been a ton of people with us. It is going to be so nice to just do whatever we want to do without having to worry about everyone else. We are going Aug 15-24 and will PROBABLY be staying at POP. I would really like to stay at the new Arts Of Animation, but from what I have read so far, I don't think the rooms will be available yet.

Who's with me??? Any other DISers out there going to brave the sweltering (for us Northerners, it will be sweltering, lol) August heat? :woohoo:

ETA: OK, we have a list!! WOO HOO!! Here is who we have so far:

(sorry, I have to add new people to the top right now, as my computer is broke and my iPad is not letting me scroll. I'll edit as soon as I can, but I want to get the new names onto the list)

Add me! Booked for All Star Sports August 26-31st!

DBF and I have booked our reservations for August 26th through the 31st. What do you think the chances are off Free Dining that week? We have booked the DDP just in case, but if we do get the free dining, we would afford to be able to stay through Sunday, and not have to leave Friday! I know a lot of people said they have recieved it for that week, but i'm starting to get ansy! Anyone know when they will announce it??

Count me in!!!!! We are arriving Aug 21-28 POR....we have always done September so I am a little concerned about the heat!!!!:cool2:

I just changed our resort to Art of Animation. I was outnumbered by the kids. They really want to see the new resort :) So we have a Finding Nemo family suite. Dates are still the same.

We'll be at POR from August 21-28!

Done August twice before so we should be prepared but the heat always gets me. My hair takes the brunt of the attack though (LOL).

Already figured out where we want to eat just waiting for that 180 day mark.

Hey! My family and I are going at the exact same time and staying at PORFQ! what restaurants of you have planned? we need ideas for our final meal!

Anyone else staying at AoA this summer? I booked it mainly for the kids (I really wanted to stay at OKW 2br villa or SS) but the kids loved the look of the new resort..

Still 2nd guessing myself :P I ALWAYS stay at the values and I really wanted to stay deluxe this time ;)

Do you think most things will be open at AoA this summer? I'd hate to go and have important features (like pools and water spray parks) not up and running!

We like to start and end with a character meal so our last dinner will probably be Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Fare. Personally I'd skip Chef Mickey's this time round but the kids won't let me. We're flying out at 4 so we might even schedule a brunch (10:30) on departure day.

So you're staying at POFQ, we spent a day off from the parks at your pool one trip eating beignets. Hope they still have them.
