Hi there fellow August Dis trippers! DH, DD, and I will be going in August as well. Our dates are 8/18-8/22 at BWV and then 8/22-8/30 at BLT. My trip planning just went into high gear since I have some missing pieces for our trip still.

I remember what I wanted to ask all you WDW vets!

My DH really wants to take the monorail and boat between parks. Where can I find all the 'stops' of these? Are the stops near the bus station?

So basically we could get off our bus at spot x and get on monorail/boat the rest of the way or vice versa?

Thanks!!!!!

When DD and I go to a park we go all day. Our MK day we left our room at 6:30am and did not get back until 2:00am. Because of this we do need to take some sort of break so what we did was take the monorail to the Contemporary and ate at Chef Mickeys we then took the monorail the long way around and got to see all the monorail resorts from the monorail. This gave us the break we needed and a chance to ride the monorail :)

By the way NightAngel if you and your DH decide to go to Star Wars Celebration keep an eye out for my LGMH. I made a new one for this year that I'm going to where on my hat I think this one will stand out more then the one I had on my backpack last year. Once I take a picture of it I will post it.

Nikki if it's not to much bother could you send me a PM of your G8MB (Great Eight Mickey Badge) as a pages document. Yes, my name is Stan but I think I'd rather put the DIS logo on mine because my screen name and real name are one and the same.

I'm also a box person on WDW Radio so I plan to make a Box Person button for myself as well. Hope my hat doesn't get to heavy.

Probably the easiest way is to take the Epcot monorial to the TTC. From there you can switch to the monorail that goes to the Magic Kingdom. It makes a loopL the Poly, the Grand Floidian, the MK, and the Contemporary, then back to the TTC. You could certainly get off anywhere along the way for a bite to eat, a cocktail, or to wander around the resort.

I don't have pages on my Mac. I opts for the Microsoft office package. ;) it's in word. If I send it to you, I'm sure it will convert to pages but I don't know how well. If that doesn't work, I can put the logo on for you and try to make it how you want it.

Oh, OK word would be fine I have both so I can work with either.

OMG, I read your Dining Review from your most recent stay for your DD's 16th B-Day and it was FAB!!! I hope you do another one for your August trip as I will be an avid reader of that review too!!:thumbsup2

Maybe I'm not quite awake yet but what is LGMH?? Thanks for the info about the monorail that does sound like a nice break. :)

Not sure how helpful I will be, since we have never stayed in a monorail resort, but here's some info I have:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/parks/magic-kingdom/transportation/

http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/m...c/eng/nontheme/moremagic/golf/maps/wdwmap.pdf

I had to look this info up because we have a lot of ADRs at resort restuarants (POLY, Contemporary...) Of course, we rode around on the monorail just for fun last time we were in Disney, but I can't even remember where we went! haha! Hopefully someone else will be more helpful :)

Thanks for the links. I guess I didn't look hard enough. Thanks!

Maybe I'm not quite awake yet but what is LGMH??

It stands for Lime Green Mickey Head.

Disers make tags with the lime green mickey paint chip heads and put their disboards name on it. We put the tags on our park bags to identify ourselves. Or in Stansolo's case his hat! Good idea Stan

Awesome! I hope to share an afternoon cocktail with everyone! Well, except for Stan the park commando, LOL! I know just how you feel though, about the non-Disney loving spouse. My husband keeps telling me he had a great time, but was a total horses butt the first three days of our last four day trip. It's better when it's just me and the princess.

You're in good company! The 25th-1st is a popular week around here. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm in for the afternoon cocktail by the pool too!!!:beach:

It's because of the afternoon cocktail my husband doesn't turn into a horses butt.

My husband was Jeckyll/Hyde last September. More Hyde, less Jeckyll. He'd never been to WDW before, he'd never even been to the Disney Store with us before. It was hot, he was overwhelmed, and it was bad. BAD! Not even afternoon cocktails helped. He was great the last day, but we almost got divorced in the middle of EPCOT the second night.

Does anyone know what the current bounceback offer is? I am soooooo hoping it's Free Dining for next year!!! :thumbsup2

When I was there in May it was an offer for a percentage off the room, going up to 35% off. It had dates until the end of the year so I imagine they are still using it.
I know I've seen a picture of it around. I'll see if I can find it for you so you can see the details and dates:)

Ok.. read this thread. You might be in luck. It shows the dates and room discount offer but it also mentions that a free dining one comes out sometime in August. I've never seen one on our late August trips.. but we usually stay on points at a Deluxe so maybe that's why:)

My 8 yr old son has just started soccer this month. He had a game every night this week for a tournament. After the first one he complained that his feet hurt and was walking on his tip toes. By the end of the 3rd game he came home and would not walk at all! He was almost in tears. It didn't hurt in the mornings or all day, but was very painful a half hour or so after.

We went to the doctor and two things were discovered. One, he has completely flat feet. How did I not notice this? They are flat as a pancake.
Two, because of his recent growth spurt and his completely flat feet he has developed Severs Disease. Not really a "disease" but a growth condition.

Oh pigletto, your poor boy :worried: . And poor mom to have all that extra concern heaped on.

Sending you some pixie dust pixiedust: that this vacation will be free from any more health concerns. If the little fellow needs a wheelchair to enjoy Disney pain-free, don't hesitate to get one.

Thank you Gina:hug:

He's laid up on the couch this morning. We had friends over for the day yesterday and they ran and jumped and played like kids do. It's so new that when he isn't hurting I don't remember to tell him to settle down. But his feet are bad this morning.. and strangely his knees too. I suppose if all the ligaments and tendons are too tight that makes sense. I think once we have the physio and the stretches things will improve. We just aren't sure what to do quite yet. I mentioned a wheelchair to him and he said "Sure, I'd be too big for a stroller" and then moved on to something else. So he's game for it:rotfl:

Yesterday my mom took my 2 sisters, my daughter and I to get manicures and pedicures. What a treat. We all sat in a row and chatted and laughed until our sides hurt. Now I have pretty nails for vacation:) I'll go in for touch ups before we go.
DD put little Mickey Heads on her nails last trip. So cute!!

Thanks Pigletto!!! You can always be counted on for updated info (and resort changes..hahahahaahah :rotfl:)

Well, lots of dates and times opened up for ADR's when I looked today so I switched ours around quit a bit. I'm very happy with our selections now so these are our final changes. (sorry Nikki!) I'm canceling Ohana on 9/2 at 6:55pm. If anyone is interested let me know and we can coordinate my cancellation with your booking.

8/28 Chef Mickey at 9pm
8/29 Ohana at 5:20pm
8/30 Teppan Edo at 3:40pm
8/30 Wishes Dessert Party at 9pm
8/31 Sci Fi at 11:20am
8/31 Crystal Palace at 7:20pm
9/1 50's Prime Time at 7:40pm
9/2 Coral Reef at 4:20pm
9/3 1900 Park Fare at 5pm

Fixed!

That's awesome! I just checked and O'Hana now has openings for while we are there. I need advice! It's my first time eating at Disney and I've done tons of research. Our dining plans now are:
8/26 Akershus 5:20
8/26 tusker house 10:15am
8/28 Aloha dinner show 5pm
8/29 crystal Palace 6pm
8/30 Cinderella's Royal Table 11:55

I would love to add OHana's but I'm out of credits. Would you a) do OHana out of pocket, b) cancel one of the above for OHana (can't cancel CP or Aloha since they with my in-laws) or c) just hope to do OHana for our next trip?
Help!

Added!!

I've also have a few ADR's, I'm going to cancel if anyone wants them: 8/26 Boatwrights 7:30pm and 8/28 Akershus 1:50pm.

One more question: what meal is better at OHana in your opinion? Thanks!!

'Ohana is served family style so everyone gets the same food. It's DELICIOUS!! :thumbsup2

Nikki ~ Please add me to the list ~ my name is Sandra! If I would have made the connection sooner, I could've met you before I got back from NJ last week. I grew up in Cranford & my parents are still in the same house right on the Cranford/Clark line by Friendly's! My brother & his family live in Garwood.

I just can't seem to get into the groove of planning this trip. I've printed out the info from easywdw & touringplans as far as crowds, park hours, etc but I just can't seem to sit down and concentrate on it.

PMed you!

I may be crazy, but I LOVE road trips. And oddly enough, so do my kids. We drove cross country two years ago and had such a great time. After that, driving to Disney is nothing! haha

Nikki, my first name is Donia. Thank you so much for making those- adorable!!

PMed you!

Yep, I have a picture of mine from last year beside my ticker I had this one on my back pack the whole time. Last year I only met one other DISer with it and it was by fluke. I was on the bus and the person next to me asked if I was from Canada because of the maple leaf on my green Mickey head? I told her its from this web site I go on called the DIS and it was a Lime Green Mickey Head and what it was for. Turned out she was a DISer but never heard about the LGMHs before. She did admit that while she did go on the DIS she didn't go on all that much.

This year I made a new one and put it on my hat thinking I'll get a better reaction with it on my hat (this is kind of like fishing). I also have a buch of Star Wars/Disney pins on my hat and got a number of comments about them last year.

Yep, this is why my DW & DD(15) stays home and just DD(17) and I go. They don't do well in the heat and are not Disney fans at all so why would we want to drag around two people that don't want to be here.

This year we are going on a bounce back with free dinning from our trip last year in late August. Remember if you don't have a bounce back offer in your room be sure to ask for one. Sometimes people take them home and mouse keeping misses it and forgets to leave one in your room.

*EDIT* I just checked the link you gave. Last year we had both of these bounce back offers in our room. We stayed at POR.

I'm so worried about my DH having this problem when we go, too! He's not a big crowd person, doesn't like theme parks, gets sick on spinny rides, and can be a total bear when hot, tired, and/or hungry. Oh, and he is 18months post-gastric-bypass surgery, so I'm guessing that he'll get sick from WDW food at least 3 times while we're there. I've told him that if he starts to be a PITA, I'm sending him back to the resort by himself for a time out. In fact, I booked CBR over AoA because the CBR was the only part of the trip planning DH seemed remotely excited about. So even though I REALLY wanted to go to AoA, I booked CBR so that he will have a quiet place to go when it gets to be too much!

The funny thing is that he keeps saying that he'll take our DD for breaks because he's sure "she" will need them. But DD is a trooper- I think we'll be dragging her from the parks kicking and screaming and DH's breaks will be have to be solo! :rotfl:

I'm lucky in that my husband enjoys the trips (nowhere near as much as me, but I'm a self proclaimed fanatic). Anyone can get hot, tired and overwhelmed in that environment though. It took us awhile to recognize when we had hit our limit and put a plan in place for when it happens.
We also don't mind splitting up. For example the boys in the family love the waterparks.. whereas dd and I have about a half day tolerance for them. So we plan on days we split up and do different things. I always found we didn't do as well when we were over scheduled. If dd wants to sleep in now instead of rope drop I say "Go Ahead!" because a tired and cranky teen is not a pleasant travel companion:crazy2:
Even with all of this though, I have done the standing in the middle of a theme park with tears thinking we must be the worst family in the world because we were all snapping at eachother and miserable. We laugh about it now, but it really sucked at the time.
