August 2011

Quick question...Are there a lot of mosquitos around Disney in August. I'm allergic to them and seem to attract them where ever I go. Being from Michigan there are a ton all summer. I would like to be prepared and bring bug spray if needed.

Nope NOT at All! I pack bug spray wipes and have never needed them.

I have been to Disney every August for the past 5 years. Never seen a mosquito. They are horrible this year in Michigan.

We were there last August and never saw a mosquito. We're from Wisconsin and are very mosquito infested here too! My dd6 is a mosquito magnet and came home without a single bite. I've heard that Disney sprays for mosquitos. Don't know if that's true or not, but it would make sense since we never saw/heard one (nothing worse than that high-pitched buzzing in your ear when you're laying in bed!)

Still, never hurts to bring it along since as a pp pointed out, it'll cost you an arm and a leg to buy it there!

Just joining the thread and saw the great news about mosquitoes. That's great news!

Only 64 days away from check in at the Poly! Woot!

Getting close to go time! This will be our first August and our first Universal Studios trip and our first time at the Polynesian so we are very excited all around. We have heard mixed reviews of the weather and none of it terrible. We usually go in January when you never know if it's going to be warm or cold, we figure at least in August it won't be cold :cool1:. Our plan is to get to the parks before rope drop and then get back to the hotel pool around 1:00. Then go back to the parks after 4:00. We will be at Universal the 19th through the 21st and the Polynesisan the 22-25th. Can't wait...

Yes, and I'm actually one of the few NOT happy about that because we were looking very much forward to spending a day at the Studios with very low crowds on a non-fantasmic day.

It completely changed the crowd calendar too, so off to adapting our schedule.

Hey, Can you PM the calendar for the 12-15? I'd appreciate it, but would understand if you don't want to.

TIA!

I just wanted to pop in and say our trip is in less than 2 months and we are super excited!!!

Woo hoo....made our final payment today. Only 47 more days till our vacation! Can't wait:banana:

But, if they are showing it every night, won't that make it less crowded? We find that Fantasmic days are crowded because they have limited showings. Maybe it will mean that the people will be spread out . (At least that is what I am hoping for..) :goodvibes We always go the end of Aug beginning of Sept. and have to try to figure out our days around the Fantasmic schedule.

Just decided to take a quick trip before I start grad school! Heading to Disney with my best friend August 25th through 29th!

I just found this thread and would like to be added to your August list :yay: I am taking my first solo trip from August 14th to 24th and will be staying at Pop Century for the first time :dance3:

dizct, this made me laugh...
This will be OUR first August and first Universal trip, and first time at new resorts (split stay), although not the Poly, you lucky dog! We also usually go in January - as a matter of fact this is our January trip re-scheduled because we all got sick this year and had to cancel. We are doing the rope drop/pool/evening plan as well, AND we'll be at RPR at Universal the 19th through the 21st, then home on the 26th. Maybe we'll see you around!
