August 2011

We are flying from Bradley as well!!! $171??? are you kidding?? IM so excited!! We are pricing out driving with THREE KIDS, one with a pacemaker and a feeding tube and a very energetic three year old boy versus flying. I think I have my answer!

Thanks for the info.:thumbsup2 Jet Blue is starting direct flights to MCO from our airport (Bradley) in November so I am curious what their prices will be like. We have never flown them before and right now Delta is offering a non-stop roundtrip flight for $171.00. That will be hard to beat!

To answer some of your questions:

Hi! I have three children that will be 9, 6.5 and almost 3 when we go in August. We are hoping to stay at POP too...but are still trying to decide on how many days we need to do Animal Kingdom, Epcot and MK (we want to do 2 days for MK we think) with one day of pool. We are hoping to book 8/13-8/20. Any good tips?

My biggest advice would be to hit the park early (being there before rope-drop (opening) is even better). This lets you avoid the crowds and the worst heat. In the middle of the day, when heat is at its max and the lines for every attractions get long, get out of the heat. The best thing is to go back to your resort for a few hours to let your kids nap/swim, then come back to the park late afternoon/early evening to enjoy the evening entertainment. If your kids refuse to leave the parks (happened to my friend :rotfl:) just try to stay out of the heat as much as possible: visit more less popular indoor air-conditioned attractions, watch long shows, have a sit-down meal in an air-conditioned restaurant. For example, at Magic Kingdom Tom Sawyer Island is a great place for kids to let off steam and run around a bit more freely. Though it is outside, there are plenty of trees, providing some nice shaded areas. Plus, it's hardly ever crowded. At Epcot, Innoventions is a great place to spend a few hours in the middle of the day.

Im very new to this WDW planning thing...what is a RO code?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think RO means room-only, meaning you get a discount on just the hotel room. This kind of package does not include tickets, though I believe you may be able to add them on.

THank you so much! Im sorry for quoting over and over LOL=)

YOur advice is great...

we are considering staying at the POP resort, and staying from mon 8/15-mon 8/22.

Does anyone know if there is still any opportunities to get the free dining? and if we cant, would you do the quick service? or dining??

Again, thank you so much for help, I really appreciate it!

:)
We are going August 19 - 26 to celebrate our 10th Anniversary and staying at POR! We will be taking both sons (6 and almost 3), my mother and my in-laws. I apologize to anyone in advance for any illegal actions on my part in response to my MIL :)

In all seriousness though, does anyone know when the park hours will be posted. This is our second trip, but the last one was planned very close to when we went, so I didn't make any ADRs. This time, I am hoping to make them at the 180-day mark, but I want to make a dinner reservation at HS the night they have EMH because my boys loved the dance party. It's driving me crazy that I can't find that info yet.
:welcome:
Sweet i found a Aug 2011 thread. Cant wait to battle the heat. We are going Aug 19th to 29th and staying for our first time at POR. This time we arent celebrating anything. Last two times we have.. Including me and my wife getting married there. So it will be nice to do stuff without worrying about anything. It will be me, my wife, and DSS :cool1::cool1::banana:

Hello Fellow August Travellers!!! :goodvibes

We are officially booked at the Poly for Aug 24-Sept 2!!! :cool1: When I called this weekend to book, I was told that we had a 40% PIN code attached to our name!!! So HAPPY about that! :woohoo:

Is anybody besides me just a little worried about the Heat???

Updated.

Add us to the list! :goodvibes

We will be at POP Aug. 10 to Aug. 21 for our honeymoon. :lovestruc
It's going to be our second trip, both of which have been during the same time, so we are not too worried about the heat. We know we can handle it. :thumbsup2
:welcome:

We had scheduled a trip to the Beach Club and when the rates came out they were more then we expected, so we canceled and decided to go to Myrtle Beach. We have now worked on the numbers and we are surprising the kids with a Disney Trip! Nobody thinks I can keep the secret, but I am trying really hard. They think we are going to the beach, but when we get to the Georgia Line, we will hand them their books we made for them. The cover page is about the hotel we were going to stay at at the Beach, but when they turn the page it will tell them about their trip to Disney and our stay at POP!
