August 2010 Code watch

I was just looking for some rates to help out a friend that wants to go in August....
Online... I put in Aug 14 -20 for POR (she has a family of 5). And it gave me a rate of $96.85 for Aug 15 -20!

I didn't think there were any discounts after Aug 14th?? :confused3
(unless it was a Pin). Could it be using my Pin online? but my Pin was just up through June.

I'm hoping this wasn't a fluke! and if I go back in to pull it up for her again will it be giving me some other rate.

Since you are the group watching for the Aug codes.... is there one out there yet that would give me this great rate??? ;)

I'm hoping for ANY pin--really want FD--for August 15 or August 20th :) Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!

$96.85 per night?

Praying for FD! FD determines whether we are in 2 rooms @ POP or in our camper at FW in AUGUST! :scared1:

I may be wrong but if I am not mistaking these days drop back into value rates instead of summer rates. Also, the 15-20 is Sunday thru Thursday which makes the rate drop than if it is a Friday or Saturday rate.

Did you check under the % special offer. As long as you check in by the 14th you can use the % off discount on your remaining days. I was going to do this, since we will be arriving the 14th and leaving on the 21st, but I am awaiting free dining....that is if they are willing to offer it :goodvibes

Yep. :thumbsup2 I might consider going then myself. LOL

Yes, Aug 15 starts the value season for Moderates.

Well, that's what I thought at first.
However, they changed that over a year ago I think... to get the discount you have to have the entire stay within the discount time frame.
And if I tried for the % off for Boardwalk it gave me the % off for the 14th, but not the 15 - 20. :confused3
But maybe because value season for BW starts July 18th.

So with the discount ending the 14th and the season change the same day.... I was afraid it was a fluke.
I'm afraid if I tell my friend to take it, they will realize the error and come back and tell her that the discount would not apply.
The dates she goes depends on how late in August she can get the % off discount.
ps.... FYI... free dining would not work for her if they decide to off that again for the end of Aug.

You do only have to check in before the discount ends. I booked my honeymoon for 17 nights (aug 10 to the 27th) and saw the code for 25% off of Pop we were able to split the saty into 3 nights and 14nights got the discount for both stays :) HTH

Ok, but.... and I don't mean to argue, I just don't want to my friend to be disappointed with bad info....
It gave the % off for the entire time for POR but NOT if I put in BW. :confused3
So... just a bit confused.

thanks!!!

Still hoping for Free Dining starting August 16th... anyone else?

Absolutely! Sitting here on pins and needles hoping that they offer it. I would love to take advantage of it again. And I know that Disney does not have to offer it, but it is going to be the only way we can visit this year. So Disney....bring on the free food....:rotfl:

Well, something is going on here, because I just booked CSR for August 16-23, and received 25% off my room only.....The CM said it's a promotion NOT a PIN.....It confused me for sure, because I was just trying to book a room and tickets ahead of time(Hoping for Free Dining)...so now I just ended up booking a room, because the CM said if I booked the room and the tickets with the 25% off discount, I had to pay the tickets in full....I was not prepared to have to pay the tickets(for 6 of us) right away. I wanted to make payments. I guess if free dining is offered for my dates, i will have to cancel my reservation and rebook a package??? My CM sounded like she was falling asleep on the phone and was not all that helpful.....

I'm wondering if Value Resorts will only be offered free quick service dining for August if Free Dining is offered again. I'm heavy into my research phase right now, trying to figure out what we are going to do. It's making me nuts running all the different scenarios through my head...If free dining is offered will that be a better deal than a percentage off the room PIN? If so, should we do Deluxe or Moderate? What would be the best value for our dollar? But what if only QS dining is offered for values...will it make more sense money wise to go for a mod if we want to do free dining? OR...We've been looking at the Fort Wilderness Cabins but those are more pricey than a stay at the actual Wilderness Lodge but will the extra room and actual bedroom with a door be worth the extra cost considering the kids will sleep better and the adults will have some space of our own? :3dglasses these are the things flying through my head as I wait to see if Free Dining will be offered!

it's fun. Gives me something to focus on. :cool1:

I feel your pain. I'm worried about QS. We have reservations for 13 nights at POP. If they only do FD QS I will have to pay $72 a day to upgrade. That is over $850, plus our tip budget of $600. It will cost us an average $140 a day to upgrade to a moderate to get regular FD DP.

My third option is going with QS and paying OP for some TS. I just can't imagine eating that much QS.

My husband now thinks if regular FD is not offered that we should cancel all together.

subscribing myself. After looking into rental homes in VA Beach DH decided that it was a better deal to go back to WDW again (just there Aug09) as long as they offered the free dining. :thumbsup2 This from the man that said he had enough WDW and we wouldn't be back for another 4-5 years.:confused3
Hey, I'm not complaining. Now the scramble begins - where to stay - we don't want just QS so we may be forced to mod if that's the only option at values. Then there is the fly/drive question. DH has to do the driving so that means we'll have to stop which shortens our time at WDW but it's so much cheaper than flying and we'll have a car to stock up the room with drinks and snacks. Flying is so much faster and easier with 4 kids and magical express. I don't want to wait any longer. I want to know what they are going to offer so I can finish my planning.

Have you taken a vacation with 4 kids on an airplane? I'm just wondering becasue we have 4 but will be driving down from PA because I think I might lose my mind with 4 little kids in an airport....so what is it like to fly with 4?
