August 2010 car rental

August 27 - Sept 1, Alamo $260 + tax for a standard SUV or $214 for a fullsize (Impala) using 428488 (Wal-Mart/Rand McNally)

Couldn't get anything better on Alamo or National with my husband's corporate codes. So far I don't know of any coupons that are good for this time period aside from maybe the Entertainment book, but I haven't found mine yet!

I'm at $233.20 for 8/14-8/24 using the 20%Walmart contract plus $40 off 10 day Entertainment Book coupon. This was booked 3/8. I checked today using the same codes and it came back 282.25 which was odd. :confused3 The base rate went up and the discounts went down. I'm sure that your rates will come down as the date gets closer.

We have a midsize car rented from August 25-Sept. 4th from Alamo at $230 with additional driver and free upgrade coupon.

The price for Tampa for national is $150 MORE than MCO for same dates and times.... That sucks.

Anyone have any good discounts for Tampa national?

EC = Emarald Club. I'm traveling 8/12-8/21 (9:30AM pickup and 12:00noon return).

I don't have an Entertainment Book, not a member of Sam's or Costco, and the only Frequent Flier programs I belong to are Continental and Spirit. Anything out there for the general public (the Continental code for National actually came out to be higher than EC)?

You can get an Entertainment book right now for $15 & free shipping. As time goes on it will probably go down to $9.99. I keep checking the prices with car rentals, because they are like the stock market...they are always changing!:rotfl:

Check mousesavers.com for codes and coupons. Try them all and you will probably find a better rate...even for Tampa.

Booked back in March with code 7015135 and have a midsize for 137 including tax and everything. Aug 14-21 from Alamo also with an entertainment coupon for 30 off (which is actually better than one free day).

This code requires a QS membership. Are there any fees associated with a QS membership?

First time heading to Disney World. Flying in to Sanford. Need a vehicle from 8-4 til 8-14. Is it always more expensive to rent from Sanford than MCO? What would be a good company to use from SFB?

It all depends on availability. I think SFB tends to run a little higher than MCO, but its certainly not a rule. I would definitely look at Alamo, but go into something like Orbitz or Kayak and do some comparisons.

Do you have to keep a credit card on file with them?

That's kind of why I've stayed away from QS. I just don't see any benefits. Any discount they may have is less than you can get from other sources (Costco, BJs, Entertainment, etc.) and they have more of your info. I like to check car rental rates at Alamo (and others) almost up to arrival date and I don't like my credit card attached to any reservation until I arrive.

As far as saving time at arrival, I'll usually just get on Alamo the night before and use that 'Save Time' link, where I'll put in my drivers license, etc., then just hit the kiosk when I get there. Very simple.

Hi guys. Just bumping this to see if the prices are coming down at all. we need a big SUV or minivan from Sanford Aug 12-21.

Maybe I'm looking under the wrong rock but it seems to me that prices have gone up 50% in the last 3 months. Anyone having any luck for August?

Rates are very specific depending on your dates but a 1 week rental for minivan in August (plugged in Aug 7 - 14th) including taxes is $421.79. This is with Thrifty using Orlando Magic Card corporate number 004m001010 and includes free addiional driver.

Update: Looks like Budget has a good rate using BCD Number x474200 and Coupon MUWZ023 for $25.00 off. The total including coupon being applied at checkout is $272.86. The BCD code as reported over on Flyertalk apparently comes from Travelocity.

Thanks for this. I was able to book an SUV for only $350 for 8 days. I had been seeing SUV's for 480 and up!
By the way, do I need to bring this coupon with me as proof or was this code available to all?

Thanks.
